Do we have a term for a group of unicyclists

I dont think I saw anyone sugesting a Death Squad. How could you guys leave that out. Muni Militia all the way!

Chex

I absolutely love the word ‘neverthriving’ for a group of jugglers, but groups of unicyclists come in such different forms, that perhaps there should be more than one collective noun. Like a flock, fly, or herd of swans, depending whether they’re swimming, flying, or walking.

Is University the opposite of diversity? Or is it a unicyclist who enjoys writing poetry?

A trundling of unicyclists (for muni)
A balance of unicyclists (for trials)
A fidget of unicyclists (for freestyle)

I’ve only ever seen 6 people riding at the same time, that was a game of gladiators. I don’t know if 6 is enough for a trundling… It might be enough for a fidget, though.

On the “uni” theme:

A “unit” could be a small specialized group of unicyclist.

A “union” is good for group of any size.

“Wobble” is brilliant. It kind of plays off the “gaggle” theme. I think even a non-unicyclist would get the joke. Just as one would say a “gaggle of geese” I would refer to it as a “wobble of unicylists”. (Or if you are into alliteration: A wobble of one wheelers).

“That wascally wabbit wan off with a wobble of one wheelers” E. Fud

I’d go a stage further and give him yet more credit: why not a
weeble of unicyclists?

Wobble is a little to obvious

I did of course try to type “too” in the previous post, rather than “to”.
The unicyclist one wheel version of the word came to the fore, I guess.
My apologies to all…at least I didn’t type “two”.

Naomi ;-(

A spinning of unicyclists.
A herd of Cokers.
A splattering of MUni’s.
A tribulation of trials. (Exhaltation of larks)
A commitment of unicycles.

All said, Chex’s “Death Squad” as a collective noun for MUni is a pretty good politically incorrect choice.

I like union, not that anyone other than us is ever going to use it…

Yay - the UUU (Union of UK Unicyclists for those
who don’t know) is ahead of the game for a change!

HORDE all the way!!!

These were posted some time ago on Just Conversation:

A group of geese is called a gaggle.
A group of ravens is called a murder.
A group of unicorns is called a blessing.
A group of owls is called a parliament.
A group of kangaroos is called a mob.
A group of frogs is called an army.
A group of rhinos is called a crash.

Oh but maybe they should have stayed there…

This one may not be well liked.

I thought someone would have posted “A circus of unicycles” by now.

Re: Do we have a term for a group of unicyclists

We could always give a tribute someone who has been doing a lot to promote
unicycling.

Maybe a foss of unicyclists?

Where there is a wheel, there is a way.

I like Bunch, for the bannana effect. Yet, a Wobble has to be my favorite.

I hope UniBrier doesn’t mind my new signature, UniBrier? --chirokid–

Re: name for group of uni-ists

Since many of us communicate via computer, how about a unix of unicyclists? Fits us pretty well I’d say. Short, sweet, most people can’t use or understand it, plus the word itself suggests a “gathering” or “crossing of paths” of people into “uni” (i.e. uni-x)

But, really, wobble and foss are pretty good.

Someone should start a poll so we can vote for the top five.

knock yourself out

i think we need to submit several of these suggestions to a relevant collective noun authority for some input

i love the death squad
maybe ‘posse’ might carry a simmilar sentiment in slightmy more PC terms?
wobble is brilliant and may very well strike a chord with the non-unicycling users of the language
i quite fancy ‘balance’
a balance of unicyclists
once again (as with wobble) touching on something we ‘obviously’ do
i say ‘obviously’ because it is likely to be obvious to the lay observer

are we going to put this to a poll?
and then ‘encourage’ any unicyclist who grants the press an interview to use one of the terms on the shortlist and see which one sticks?

How about a roll of unicyclists?

I apologize for any errors, especially for originator, or if I left any out. In some cases, there is really more than one originator, with reference to the Of column. I tried to put the first posting person as the originator.

My personal vote goes to Webble (it’s not a blatant as Wobble, besides, I don’t-much ;), and we don’t fall down, we UPD-sometimes with extreme prejudice :D), with a second for Foss, but he’s not dead yet(?!) so I don’t think that’s appropriate.

Well, universe represents a set.

A universe of unicyclists.

Or, if they aren’t wobbling, they could be stable.

A stable of unicyclists. (However, we’d be sharing that with horses, boxers, and racing cars.)

A hub of unicyclists?
A wave of unicyclists?

I remember reading an article that listed collective nouns for various groups of people. The one I liked best was “a gangle of basketball players.”
