Looks like it to me, just get back on those pedals earlier. Try to jump with your foot on the ground so the wheel doesn’t get placed back on the ground before you put your feet back on.
on zero plants are you suposed to use the same foot you kick with or does it not matter?
thanks man!!
i had been trying on and off for a couple weeks to crank flip and i was not getting any where.. then i watched
this and after an hour or two i got so i could land one down a three set!!
so thanks!
Woah, thats crazy. ![]()
When I zero plant, I tired to flip with my front left foot, and land on my right foot back, it somehow hurt, so I tried to land on the foot I flip with, left foot flipping and landing on.
ahh its finally helping, i learned zero plant today
i thikn you should make first basic street tricks like 360 unispin
grinding rails (with pedal only) 360° and then start to go advance
put them on unicycle.tv just mail olarf or someone from tv
So this is mildly offtopic but I didn’t wanna fill RSU up with new threads so I will ask here.
I have tried many of the steps in this tutorial and they have all failed me, but yesterday I was with a friend of mine nad he was wondering if I could do back crank flips, so I tried them and I was able to land one footed almost right away and I figure next time I practice them I will be landing them.
Are Backflips easier than regular crankflips? Does anyone have any tricks for transitioning from SIF backflips to rolling backflips?
I’ve always done mine seat in. I think of it as a late back flip. It is easier seat in front but I think it’s awkward when rolling.
It’s all what is good for you. I’m not making tutorials anymore. At least not for awhile. People can do 3spins or 3twists pretty easily compared to the amount of practice for flips (keep in mind that’s after knowing 1spins and 1twists first). I’m all about flips with that anyway.

Hey I learned backflips SIF first too (after learning crankflips, hickflips, etc…). I think its more of a preference on which one is easier or harder (back crank/forward crank). Here is what I did for learning backcranks:
1. SIF back cranks
2. SEAT IN back-cranks. (with railing, then without)
I found that holding onto a railing with one hand and holding the seat with the other, and then practicing static back cranks like that. It helps you get used to the flip. Try not to become too dependent on the railing though.
3. Fakie backs (riding backwards and then doing a back crankflip)
I got those about 5-10 minutes after getting seat in back-cranks.
4. Rolling backcranksThe thing that makes these hard at first, is that you have to flip it later then you would for any crankflip or fakie/static back. These may take a while to get used to, but after you get the hang of it they are not too bad. At first you may notice that when you do them rolling forward, you’ll land in the same place you jumped from. Its okay to start like that, but concentrate on trying to go forward, otherwise going over stairs or drops will be very hard.
Hope that helped. PM me if you have any specific questions.
A lot of people were asking for Shaun’s Crankflip tutorial video to be added to the gallery, so here it is.

You Should Make A 360 Unispin Tutorial
Wow that was really really helpful, exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much. I really like your idea of using the railing for seat in flips. I also like how you put that after doing sif backflips that way I won’t get too dependant on the rail.
Thank you once again for the perfect write up.
I learned back cranks similar to Jeff. I did fakie first because I found it was easier to get the flip since you use some of your riding momentum. It helps to lean back to get more pressure on your back foot and suck your legs up.
Then I learned them static si (no rail). It helps in the beginning to actually hop backwards as you try to flip it then once you can do that then you will understand the motion and you won’t have to move anywhere.
I did rolling forwards ones almost exactly like Jeff described. After I learned static ones though I just rolled forward and did a prehop into back crank, it helped as an inbetween step so you can still be moving forward but it kind of feels more like the static one. Then work on not doing the prehop and start the flip after you have already taken off of the ground, if you push back before you leave the ground then it will mess up your hop and you probably won’t move forward (I used to do rolling back cranks and I would finish the flip the place I started).
yea i cant get enough push on the cranks
Awesome thanks guys, I can’t wait to get out practicing them (prolly not a good thing unfortunatly since my legs are covered in bruises and raw areas from rubbing the seat). I think it may actualy help that I have such tiny cranks because when I start doing them rolling forward I won’t lose as much momentum by putting weight back on them.
Do you find this Spencer? You have 110’s aswell right?
Flip tricks with 110s are kind of weird. I have koxx 110s on my splined freestyle uni. You have less torque to get power but it spins faster and smoother, it is harder to catch flips too sometimes. With 110s its really hard to see the flip too.
Here are a few clips that has one of my first back cranks, you can tell I don’t move forward.

Yeah I have found that I barely have to jump off the ground to do a full flip now but I really have to kick hard. Also do you use metal pedals for your flip tricks?
Eek, I used to. I cut my foot open on a doubleflip and I couldn’t wear a shoe for a couple weeks. I only use plastics now.
