Sounds like you’ve got a very old tyre. 24x1 3/4" is not the same thing as 24x1.75" and most likely they won’t be interchangeable - see Sheldon Brown’s tyre wisdom page
The old “Unicycle” tires from Schwinn are long gone. Though you might find one languishing in an old bike shop, expect the rubber to be over 20 years old. I think the last of the actual whitewalls were made before 1980. The unicycles with the S-7 rims were last sold in 1983.
You should be able to keep the rest of the cycle original as long as you can find the tires. That’s the best thing for an old Schwinn anyway. If you want to upgrade, start from scratch. Otherwise you’ll just be compromising all along the way.
I have a couple of 20" whitewall “Unicycle” tires for my Schwinn Giraffe waiting in the wings. We’ll see how they hold up if I ever wear out the one that’s on there…
I have about 15 20" whitewalls and some 20" black walls as well.
I could only find one 24" whitewall today. I have some 24" blackwalls too.
I had to take the brown paper off the 24" whitewall tires for the last guy. They use to come
wrapped together with thin brown paper strips.
I want to keep this one for historical purposes.
If I can find some more I will sell them.
I have about 400-500 tires in stock right now.
I have 5 locations that they could be in.
I haven’t looked at them all yet.
So far I have called another collector and Tom Miller at the Unicycle Factory. They have some but
want to hold on to them.

Cheechee, you really should stop your habit to type within quoted
text. That way, I (for one) cannot find what you actually typed
because it doesn’t stand out in any way. That is, in my Usenet reader
which is set up fairly standard; maybe it’s better in the forum
display since no-one else seems to complain.
But maybe you typed nothing?
