ok so i plugged it in and thre tuner works and the tape deck works but the turner doesnt turn. so i took of the panel stuff and the motor spins perfectly, but im not sure if it has any friction to turn hte turner (it has a rubber wheel instead of gears). oh and i can turn it with my hands if that helps.
so if anyone can tell me whats wrong and maybe how to fix it that would be awesome.
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh
what?
Turn Table?
record player, for all you hooligans with no history
it was my dads from a long while back.
If its ran by a rubber band, you gotta make sure the band is on the right places, it should be wrapped around a few circular things that are under the table and whatnot, I cant really explain it that well, but if you look at it for a while youll see what i mean, i hope.
dude! i never thought it could be a rubber band. ill go check if the rubber circle has a groove for a rubber band
inform us what happens Im dieing to know what happend in the next install ment of"what is wrong with unijesse’s turntable" (im being serious here btw)
the thing blewup!!!
Yeah, if its an old turntable than chances are that its belt driven. Make sure that the rubber band (the belt) is hooked up to the motor and the platter.
Doesn’t sound like it was.
Anyhoooo… what would you want turntables for man? Ceedees are the future!
NOONE listens to vinyl anymore… only WEIRDOES.
I use a Numark T125 turntables, then a begginers mixing board, nothing special, I broke the needles and need to buy some new ones.
I would like to get the “ceedee” ones lol, but they are too expensive for me ATM
Broken needle? See the doctor:
GREAT NEWS!! its a MIRACLE! i went out to the garage to see if it had a rubber band yesterday, but i figured id try it one more time before i took it apart again, so i plugged it in, flipped the switch…IT SPUN!!! it was amazing! so now im listening to cars greatest hits. the table is a pioneer centrex.
thanks for all the caring.
speaking of cars, does anyone know the song where they are in a car? some thing like “here in my car, i feel safest of all”
That’s “Cars” from Gary Numan’s The Pleasure Principle. Nothing to do with The Cars.
well look whats on top of my turn table.
thats the one i was listenin to
haha…oooops
now its ac/dc-back in black then deep purple-ummmm hold on…OH machine head:)
Speaking of turntables, I was just looking at a Mackie Big Knob to use as a fancy preamp for my computer. The Big Knob has a phono input for a turntable so I’ll finally be able to play records at the computer.
I do all of my home music listening at the computer now. I don’t even use my home stereo any more. It’s time to ditch the home stereo and upgrade the computer sound system, and the Mackie Big Knob seems to be just the thing to tie it all together. It has very flexible routing and can even mix different sources. Much more flexible than your typical preamp.
Then I’ll need to get a better turntable.
J_C, to bad its still going to be “noise reduction” Vs. true High Fedelity…
Vinyl will alway have the edge over digital on a good system.
The signal from the vinyl wouldn’t get run through the computer. The signal would stay analog all the way from the record to the headphones (or monitor speakers). It would also be possible to route the signal through my sound card to digitize it and record the album to an MP3 or WAV, but you would not need to do that just for regular listening.
They actually make USB turntables now. Yikes! A low end turntable with a low end AD converter to make a digital signal for the computer. What a horrible thing to do to your records. At least my setup will be more high end and have a much better AD converter for if/when I want to digitize an album.
