In which position do you spend most of the time ?
Position 1. LH tip aero/RH grip on T -Bar. Might be because of the Road Camber. NZ cars on left side of road.
Starting to get more into Position 4. Both hands tip Aero-Bar & Elbows resting on T-Bar
I also found 150 crank length gave me major chaffing. I only use that for 7-10% grade hills now, not for flats.
I would advise you to spend as much time as possible with elbows rested. You will spend loads of energy, and reduce weight on your butt, thus protecting it from some chaffing and a lot of pain.
Thanks Aurelian, I have been trying to follow your advice re: staying in Aero position as much as possible.
Hi, I have just completed
Leg 1 - New Zealand, Bluff to Kaitaia
3000 km ( including walking up steep hills - I am recording those)
On April 18, I am flying Seattle to start North America.
Ideally, 3 months in US and 3 months in Canada crossing possibly at Detroit.
Any local knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
Has your route changed? Your route on MapProgress shows you flying into Anchorage Alaska then riding through Canada and crossing into North Dakota.
Yes, Route has changed.
I intend to start North America leg in Seattle and follow (to be confirmed) the Great American Rail trail route and cross into Canada after 3 months at about Detroit (possibly)
and continue in Canada as per Maprogress.
Maprogress IT is unable to assist with updating route changes.
Viewing my history may help.

Nice ! Good luck for your america crossing then !
You’re welcome. How is it working for you ?
You are using a 36er with 100 mm cranks, right ? It might be quite short for what you are doing (not sure about that though)
