context: I have a rotated tibia bone and external rotated hips
The picture is my right side pedal. i’m pushing like diagonally inwards because my body over rotates to make thigh contact. Because the saddle is so narrow i need to squeeze my thighs a lot or throw my body to the other side to grip.
Anyone know of wide saddles, like the computer saddle chair? I widened my pedals but without thigh contact i dont have leverage.
IMHO, that’s not a good idea. As per my experience, bike saddles offer way less thigh grip/support than unicycle saddles. Also, most unicycle saddles have a similar base, and none is really wider than others.
With all due respect, i really can’t get a grip on what your condition is and how it affects riding. If you need a bulky saddle you can remove the cover and add some additional padding on the sides or add an air cover and add additional side padding.
You could perhaps try handlebars. These might reduce the need for contact with the saddle. They can also be used in combination with a bike saddle if you find a DIY solution that can be attached to the seat post.
The air saddle cover available at Unicycle.com would allow for plenty of room to duct tape some padding on the sides of the saddle then put the cover on. It also will add some bulk.
i think this is the best option. seems like the air seat cover can easily fit over the club and its worth experimenting from there. thanks for sending the pictures.
I’m struggling to picture your issue but I can see from the photo that you are using a fairly budget unicycle. Would it help to upgrade to something with an ISIS hub and KH spirit cranks? They have much more q-factor, meaning the pedals are wider apart. And maybe upgrade to better pedals with a bigger platform so you can move your feet more if necessary?
It’s actually related I should’ve said that in the original post. It’s bent exactly like that on both axles. Which is how I know I press downwards at an angle.
That’s a lot of money to spend for an upgrade that may or may not fix the issue. OTOH replacing those pedals is probably a sound purchase, they are too small, aren’t very good and just don’t last. Most flat pedals are both stronger and wider than those.
I’d echo looking at modifying the saddle with additional foam, then holding the package together with an air cover (given this is now the only option on sale).
