Hey Tom, well since you want a run out in your car, I guess we will let you come. Dont worry mate, we WILL (mark my words!!!) have some Gaelic Nuts, as Kit puts it! I’m sure Matt would come up if he’s not busy, and Jason would probably come too.
Newcastle is always a good compromise, but dont expect much from Geordie hospitality
I shall be coming with 3 mates aswell as I have said on the MySpace Group.Ive been to manchester Projekts a few times and it is sweet for riding!
Any time decided yet or meeting place?
I really should get off my arse and sort this out.
I am going to get to Manchester airport at 0800 on the 27th, is anyone going to be anywhere at this time? (I can come 1705 on the 26th if its easier)
I am then planning on sleeping somewhere (still not 100% sure where, probably on the floor of MrBoogieJuices house [if he lets me pleeaase], or maybe at a youth hostel if it’s to late [don’t want to annoy anyone), and then I need to be at Manchester airport at 1750 to catch my flight back.
Is anyone going to be around at 0800ish Saturday morning? Haha…
Does anybody know whats going on Sunday? (In relation to be able to be at Manchester airport at 1750)
Am I asking to many questions? Am I showing that I have no idea of my way around Manchester? And that I am uncertain of how long it takes to get ANYWHERE in Manchester? Should Mike be worried? Find out, next episode…
I’d be in Macc, probably in bed, but I could meet you in Manchester earlier or you could catch a train to Macc, drop your stuff off and then head back into Manchester later with us.
If you did that then I’m planning on being in Manchester that evening for Critical Mass so could meet you at Piccadilly station before that. The train from the airport takes 15-20 minutes according to the rail enquiries site and they’re pretty regular.
It’s fine and dandio for you to crash at mine senor… Just bring a beeping slag.
The ride on Sunday’ll take maybe 3 hours… maybe more. It depends how long we spend eating food and drinking pint. So long as you’re back in Macc for 3 o clock, which is easily do-able, you’ll have loads of time. It’s only a couple of miles from the forest back to Macclesfield and all downhill so I usually pedal back to Macc. A 10 o clock start in the morning should give you enough time to get to manchester airport. The train to Manchester from Macc takes about 30 minutes so it’s all pretty close together really. You might be able to get a lift to the airport from Macc actually. The airport’s almost closer to Macclesfield than it is to Manchester so you have to double back on yourself with the train.
If I do come I’ll leave on the Friday night late on and drive down through the night, stopping now and again for a rest. So that I’m there for early in the day.
I’m more into sunday muni than the saturday 20’s, but I’m up for both.
MrBoogie, a space on your floor would be greatly appreciated. But just pencil me in, don’t set it in stone.
It is called Mabie forest, I broke my big toe there about 1.5-2 years ago with Cumbria Muni Club. Back then it was super hard, not too high up but very thin and very long. Apparently now it’s a bit higher, thinner and longer. I would imagine it is even harder too.
It’s pretty hard to find tho, I went again and couldn’t find the north shore stuff. Did ride some pretty cool trails tho, big huge sliding boulders and the like. And Ae forest is amazing on a unicycle. It is just outside Dumfries but going the other way to Mabie.
Hey Kit,
Is it kool if me and Ike come to yours at somepoint in the morning and travel with you to manch? we can meet you in manch instead, it’d just be easier to meet up.
[SIZE=3]Can we confirm a location and meeting time?
[SIZE=1]I’ve been emailed by people asking me to get back to them when we decide…
Since Manchester has two stations, the Piccadilly station is quite close to the Project MCR skatepark anyway, which looks awsome (tested by one of the forum readers too!). I’m sure the skaters there could help us out with cool places to ride.

How about 10:00 outside the Piccadilly station?

PS. Everyone who wants to go to the MCR skatepark (Everyone) is required to fill in a disclaimer. It’d only take 2 mins but EVERYONE UNDER 16 needs to get a signiture from their parents on the form as well.
PPS. All is not lost though! You wont have to bring ur parents with a pen clutched in their fingers. You can download the form here, fill it in, get the signiture, print it out to bring in o the day! http://www.projektsmcr.com/park.php
I have found a Flaw in this skatepark, yes ive been before on my unicycle and it was quite quiet and they let me in…But it does say No Bikes Allowed and I know we’re going to be on Unicycles but I have a feeling that the rule will be the same if theres alot of us, plus the skatepark isn’t huge.
We may need to get in touch with the owners and see if they can by-pass the rule for one day.
I’m fine just riding street all day if thats what it comes down too.
Sounds really good! It’s probably best to give them an email/phonecall. I did for Project MCR and they were really cool but I think if we just turned up they might have not known what to do.
If they’re not happy with us we’ll all probably have fun street riding though. So give them a call and see how they’d feel about a mini convention of unicyclists there (10-30).
Done, the flights are booked, I need to leave my luggage, while we ride, at Piccadilly Station in the Left Luggage place (is that alright MrBoogieJuice?).
So, yeah. Looking forward to riding! See y’all there!
Nice one Mike! Can’t wait to see everyone there! I think there’s going to be quite a few people there on the day. I’m bringing 3 ppl from Sheffield and there’s at least 1 more that I know who’s coming along…
I’ve invited a local Skater that skates manchester quite alot, he knows a few good spots to ride.
Has anyone phoned Projekts to see if we’re allowed in yet? I’ve posted on thier forum to let people know about it.
Hope someone has found some good out of town areas to session because there’s still that blanket ban on all extreme type sports in the city centre.
Though I’m happy to have a night session where all the policed spots become available.
