You know you're a unicyclist when

You’re saying that for John and Mikeful and others who dived right into a new newbie thread a day or so ago? :sunglasses:

Maybe.

You know your a unicyclist when you buy shoes exclusively based off of how well they’d fit your pedals

I see unicycles.

…you are pondering advantages / disadvantages and the relative usefulness of crown designs in relation to frame sizes while leaving the house.

…you overcome this state of being lost in thought 50m down the road and - realizing that you‘re moving on two feet - your next thought is „man, this sucks! I‘d rather ride my uni.“ (but lugging a car battery around this wasn‘t really an option)

…you‘re first thought after learning that your train to get back home is canceled is „why is it today of all days that I had to leave home without a uni? With my Oregon I could make it home just in time for lunch.“

That‘s how I became aware today that I can probably safely consider myself a unicyclist. What about you guys, did you experience similar moments of revelation?

Yep, some shop workers were a bit surprised when I told them that I wanted to do a few revolutions (in the shop) to see how well the new shoes or trousers would suit for unicycling. But all of them kindly accorded.

…reading today‘s date makes you think of your uni‘s seatpost diameter (I live in a dd.mm format region).

That’s a good one.

Today some doubts about my status as a unicyclist arose…
During this week I kept riding the 20er to go to town for the daily shopping because, well, because it takes longer with a 20er than with a 26er. I‘m making my choice of unicycle to extend the duration of unicycling, so I must be a tue unicyclist, right? Now, I had to go town a second time and this time I decided to take the 26er. ‘Cause variety is a good thing, and I don‘t want one of my unis to feel neglected. Caring so much for my unicycles‘ feelings, I must be a true unicyclist, right?
I smiled complacently until doubt reared its ugly head and stroke me completely unprepared: I have only two unis, how can I consider myself a true unicyclist?!

… when you see a Tottenham Hotspurs FC flag and assume the logo is a unicycle…

(random internet pic, not the flag I saw)

except I rarely drive. I think I can still do it, but I only drive if my wife wants to go somewhere further than say a 3-5km walk.

…you think „tricycle“ when you have a micro scooter in your hand. Do the math and you’ll have good idea what I was riding at that moment.

If you donate a unicycle to the winners’ temple at a Swiss wrestling event

Unbeknownst to me, my quilter friend has a son who rides unicycles. I found that out after seeing this quilt in her sewing room. Lucky lad is getting this for his birthday.

Will have to look out for a brand new muni on the second hand market, then

Another amusing story: The winner of these Swiss wrestling competitions wins a Muni, which is the Swiss German name for a bull. Well, I also donated a MUni

I recently tried out piloting a trishaw which has two passengers side by side in front of the rider.

The problem for me was steering which is completely opposite to riding a bicycle which is normally countersteered. I was fine as long as I was totally focused. However sometimes I would get too close too the edge, instinct takes over and I steer directly towards the edge. It freaked me out.

I have contemplated if unicycling may have strengthened my countersteer instincts on a bicycle.

One instinct definitely from unicycling is to jump off if anything goes wrong. Definitely not a good thing piloting a trishaw that tips the passengers forward without the rider’s weight on the seat. I decided volunteering for this charity was not for me.
