Do you ever think something, and then immediately realize “Holy crap, I’m a huge nerd”? That happened to me at dinner today. My stepmom had the radio on, and This Kiss by Faith Hill came on. Here’s part of the chorus:
That bugged me. Probably much more than it should have.
Anyway, I’m sure there a lot more nerds on these forums. If nothing else, you’re smart because you unicycle. Does anyone else have these moments?
well im not necessarily a nerd, and there is no way i can prove it to you, so believe what you want, but i have had these moments, and i dont think of them as “nerdy moments”… one of my moments was when i was in a public restroom with my friend outside, and while i was takin a whizz, i was singing james brown:
“i feeeeeel goood - na na na na na na na i knew that i would - na na na na na na na i feeeeel niiiice! - like sugar and spiiiiice. etc.”
yea, weird, strange, embarrasing, akward, call it what you want, but i have a lot of dignity to lose, so why not lose some every once in a while?
Oh yes. I was at Burger King the other day when the boyfriend points to one of the paintings on the wall that was a parody of Da Vinci’s Man where there was a burger in place of a guy. He thought that was pretty funny.
Then I pointed to the rest of the paintings around the restaurant and named the different artists they were parodying (Van Gogh, Monet, Warhol, etc). Nerdy moment of the day.
Plenty of times. When im with my girlfriend, with my friends, parents, other peoples parents, employees at stores, and a lot of places. I embrace my nerd/geekiness.
Well there’s no real set-in-stone definition for a nerd or a geek, but the generally accepted connotations are that nerds are smart, science-y people and geeks are smart, tech-y people. Both are usually fairly smart in the average stereotype, though.
I have that sort of moment all of the time but I don’t think it makes me a nerd / geek or whatever. It’s just general knowledge and there’s no shame in it. Nerds know the script of Monty Python sketches and stuff.
