I am learning (attempting, anyway) to ride a unicycle. I can go about 5
feet now! a big achievement for me!
Here is my problem… I am getting really bruised on my inner thigh from
the seat. I must be doing something wrong. Anyone have any suggestions or
tips to prevent this?
I had the same problem. I laid off unicycling for a day, and rode less, and now it is no longer a problem. My knees however are a different story. I think I did something to my knees riding down hill and I haven’t been able to ride for a week because of the pain. Does anybody have any tips on healing myself?
It could be many things, includuing the seat itself. What type of unicycle
and saddle are you riding. Saddles where the front and back are the same
width are very uncomfortable and the front sides can dig into your thigh.
These saddles often have metal rails that bolt onto the bottom of the
saddle and are supposed to protect saddle when the unocycle is dropped.
They don’t.
All the best,

Thanks to everyone that has responded!!! It is admirable to have a
“community” that is willing to help one another!!! I wish the magic
community was as friendly and helpful as you guys!!!
I look forward to the day I can call myself a unicyclist!
I had the same problem with my knees. i didnt ride for a week, for they
hurt so bad.so i started doing some stretching before and during my
ride’s.the knee pain was still there, but the stretching helped with the
pain after the ride.then the knee pain went away as my legs got use to
riding the unicycle, but i didnt give up on the stretching tho. Shane.
My best friend actually had this problem when we first started riding, he had one of the seats that the front and back are the same, and from dropping it during the learning process, the metal bar thats supposed to protect it actually ended up coming off. This in turn ended up with the front end of the seat getting bent inward so much that he actually had scrapes on his thighs from where the metal had bent… I would recommend getting a new seat, you may also need a new seat post, depending on the type of seat you find. This will be a very good investment, and will make riding much easier to enjoy!
Anyways, best of luck, and don’t let it get to the point where you end up bleeding from the seat, lol
I just put a Miyata seat on mine, and what a difference it made. I
definitely recommend it.

My thighs used to get bruised until I started wearing bicycle shorts.
Tight with Lycra and all that. My guess is that any long pair of shorts
will be fine.
