would it work : rounders (or baseball if u must) on a unicyle

I was playing rounders in P.E. at school today. At the moment I am at a stage where i look at everything and wonder -I wonder if that is ‘do-able’ on a uni. U could call it terrain evaluation i supppose, i myself call it daydreaming:D
Anyway, i was wondering whether rounders would be any good on unicycles, there would be certain things that would be harder like throwing the ball a long way. Perhaps only certain players would be mounted?
Any thoughts/has my idea been thought of before?
Thanks, TIm

It would be pretty difficult, for two reasons. One, sports where one
has to react to the movement of a fast-moving ball don’t tend to work
well on unicycles–volleyball being another example. It’s really hard
to react fast enough. Basketball and hockey work because the ball or puck
doesn’t need to be reacted to nearly as quickly; if it just bounces a
few times before someone gets to it, it’s no big deal.

The other thing is that picking a baseball/softball up off the ground is
really difficult for most unicyclists. It would be hard to even start
playing if you couldn’t reach the ground, whereas with basketball it’s
not that big a deal.

I would’ve thought the weight of swinging the bat would have made it very hard to stay on the unicycle.

Maybe a foam bat and ball would work (safer too :)), although, you still have the problem of picking it up, and reaction problems, as Tom points out.

Sorry not interested unless you choose to play a proper game on the uni:
cricket conjures up some pretty wild scenarios… or maybe Australian
rules football? Bit like uni gladiators with a ball.

Naomi

or Australian rules football.

Unicycle boxing has got to have great potential as a spectator sport.
