Why not a gel seat?

I wish someone would make a gel seat for unicycles. Has anyone ever tried to
alter a bicycle gel seat? I’m just wondering if the gel is a liquid or solid. In
other words would it leak if I cut it? Brad

no, it’s solid but squishy. At least, the one we have! You know those five
dollar gel seat covers you can buy at walmart? We got a couple of those and
opened them up and took out the gel and put it in our miyata seats, on top of
the air tube, and I think it’s def. an improvement.

RE: Why not a gel seat?

Fellowes mfg makes a gel wrist rest for computer keyboards. It may be better
shaped to work with a uni seat. They are available at any computer/office supply
superstore.

And it is indestructable. It comes with a nylon (lycra?) cover on it. I
“skinned” one and stretched it out from it’s relaxed length of about 20" to
about 15-20 ft.

My 2 cents, Hugh in SC

Hi,

I currently use a seat that has gel over foam. You can cut the gel if you
want, but a cruiser size Mountain bike gel seatcover worked fine for me
without cutting.

It’s a solid. You can cut it all you want.

i used a gel seat for many years. You can by the gel as an exercise bicycle seat
pad and trim to fit. However, i have found that the gel seat is 1. very heavy,
2. does not provide that delicate cushioning that the pubic process really
requires 3. the air seat or inner tube seat is much lighter, and definitely more
effective at isolating the minute shock and abrasions that ultimately cause
discomfort and damage to that area.
