the title says it all
I’d like too, but I can’t muni, plus I don’t have one.
i just figured out that there is a good possibility i will. i never was really fond of muni-but its not that hard, and so i really wanna go just to see and hang out with other riders. hopefully itll happen. im definitley going to unicon though. that is gonna be swick.
I might, but I need to get a splined hub. The current hub on my 24" is like butter, or so it seems. It’s possible that I may go.
What’s a good beginner Muni for under $250 USD? I’d like to get into that after I get a little better on my freestyle.
NImbus if you’re not worried about splined, or a Torker DX 24" if you want splined.
or a Qu-Ax.
I like the Qu Ax. I own one. I’m going to moab. Definately. I love muni.
iam for sure going, my family if figuring out the plans as iam typing! It sucks tho because i have to fly over and i hate to fly(even tho i never have before).
I cant wait! Its all snowy here though so i havn’t rode any hard terrain to prepare myself for moab:( i also get to miss poopy school!
Splined hubs generally mean extra durable hub, right? More suited for higher drops and rougher bails?
Me!!!
yes bigtime!
Well dang, now I don’t know if I want to save up for a Nimbus 29er or a Torker DX…
get the torker… moss def… if you want a distance uni get the torker… then save up for a little while longer and get a Sun 28"
Chase
i’d like to go, but don’t think i’ll be able to
Same here, if I drove there with Evan then I would have to miss 5 days of school and that will really suck trying to make all that up. So now I am trying to convince Evan to fly there but then I need permission from my mom which is like the hardest thing to get…ever. I wasn’t even allowed to go to CMW in SB which is like an hours drive away.
But that’s not a distance uni…I want an actual touring uni for distance, as in 28+.
Is the nimbus not a very good one? My money is pretty tight right now, so ~230 USD seems like a good deal, and it got a couple good reviews.
dont you have that backward with the distance thing and the torker, Dont you mean 28" for distance?
no, the point is that you get the strong uni first.
Sockbuddy: The nimbus is probably one of the best nonsplined unis available. It’s got a good rim, tire, seat, frame, etc. the only problem is that the hub is just not splined. (you can find a good read in the hub and crank interface tutorial in that section) If you’re gonna drop off of anything bigger than maybe a picnic table you’re not gonna want a nimbus.
Back on the topic: Moab. I’m there. You all need to be there. Everybody.
Fueg, I don’t think you’re gettin’ my point though. My original post with the two links was me debating whether to get a touring uni, i.e. no drops or technical things, just speed and comfort for longer distances, or a Muni, for, obviously, Muni’ing. My question was if the Nimbus 29er was a good choice for purely distance riding, no dropping or any of that stuff.
Sorry, I don’t know much about touring unis.
I’d advocate a strong uni first, but I don’t know your style at all, and can’t say what you should do. I know I make more use of my MUni than I would of a 29er, and my brother also gets more use from his muni than his coker.
OHH you were talking about a nimbus DISTANCE uni… I TOTALLY misread your post…
that explains THAT.
sorry, man.
