LONDON, Sept. 1 – Nearly every British newspaper on Friday carried photos of the “assassination” of President Bush – or, rather, the eerily realistic depiction of it from a new documentary-style television film that is causing an uproar in Britain.
The film, “Death of a President,” has been alternatively derided as a tasteless publicity grab and defended as a serious look at a plausible event that could have dramatic ramifications for the world.
“Uproar” is a tad strong, I feel. The BBC website has a grand total of two articles on the subject, one about the film and one about the US republican party whinging about it.
Documentary-style dramas are quite popular here, covering subjects from disease outbreak to war and major terrorist incidents; I don’t see why the most powerful man in the word should be exempt from such “what if?” scenarios. Perhaps they should have used a generic lookalike president rather than explicitly saying it refers to Bush, but the difference would be negligible anyway.
To answer the question: I don’t (want to see the assassination…). But it’s not a problem, just warn me a few days before it happens so that I can wrap my head with a towel
More seriously I don’t want such a thing to happen:
-first because I don’t wich anybody’s death
-second because that would make him a martyr
…though I would be so happy if someone “entarted” him (in french, “entarter” means to slam a cream pie in the face. see an exemple here with bill gates… delightfull! )
Great, with that thread title now I have to worry about the FBI watching this forum now.
Billy, your phones just got tapped. Congratulations.
You realize with the patriot act they can detain you indefinately and never file charges or notify anyone of where you are or even admit that they’ve taken you, right? If I never hear from you again I’ll assume that’s what happened.
How many here watched the Ceausescu execution video on Christmas Day, 1989? Why would anyone watch such a thing. What morbid curiosity is satisfied by such an act? Why public? Why televised? Nick was no saint, that goes without saying.
I believe Bush is fairly evil man, but I sure don’t wish to see him killed. I was taught to love my enemies, because they help me to become stronger. I was also taught to forgive all people for everything they’ve done, as I am a wrong-doer, and I have no authority to judge another man.
