What is the steepest slope you have unicycled down?

Two days ago I found a pretty steep slope and successfully unicycled down it. It was several meters of what I guess was a 33 degrees slope. How about you?

I’ve done about the same as you - 63% grade (~32 degrees): Under the Overpass

The trickiest (and scariest) part for me was mounting cleanly.

Believe it or not, my steepest ride was also a 33 degree slope:

What‘s that U good for?
Nice vid, by the way.

Hmmm, my gut feeling is they put it there for a different reason…

Very impressive

Up and down this one, 34.8% gradient

How long does the slope have to be to count?

it should be higher than you can jump in one go, so a kerb won’t count.

It should be more than 5 meters, then:

Maybe not a hill, but it was the steepest part I have ever ridden. It must have been like 45 degrees or something. The brakes could not hold properly back so I just had to “ride along”!

I am still proud of nailing that after soo many attempts on different occasions. After that challenge, no (relevant) hill really seems that steep anymore, and I can more or less squeeze the brake and just go for it. :star_struck:

17% on top of my shape on about 150m, up and down (sometimes on quite uneven ground that made things even more difficult).

I can’t fathom how climbing 35% is possible.

The end is very hard and I always had to dismount when climbing (I was riding a 24").

This one is a bit longer, less uneven and I was able to fully climb it up and down (riding a 27.5").

Also 12% for 200m, only up, increasingly harder, never tried down. Uneven road as well, and I never could make the last few meters as the slope gets way harder.

“Chemin de la Cagouillère”

People from a park above (top arrow) could see me riding up (down arrow), and everyone applauded me from the heights when I reached the top, even if I had to dismount in the end.

“Put as much force as you’re dumb” and this should work out. If this fails, then you’re not dumb enough and should try again later on

I was given this advice when I was practicing rock climbing. Alas, I probably am way smarter than I could imagine :roll_eyes:f-wobble:

Funny, I also put my arms in the air when I succeed in something with the uni’s

How do you know the climb percentages of these roads. We do have some acending sections, but in NL peeps dont bother stating how steep roads are.

Google maps lets you draw a path and returns length and elevation

…because the NL are cluttered with hills and mountains, so it‘s nothing special

PS: on my 36er I‘ve mounted a water level that indicates the percentage - but only if I dismount and put the bar ends on the ground. Plus, they shouldn‘t be out of alignment (which usually happens after a UPD). Bottom line: I could measure the inclines but rarely do so because it‘s too cumbersome…
