I think Pythons would be fun.

Okay, I’ve got to ask… “Monty conversion unicycles”?

Monty conversion unicycle = a unicycle that has been built up using a Monty
wheel and rim. Monty makes very beefy 20" tyres (2.5" or 3" wide I think) as
well as lots of other stuff for trials BMX riding. If you can find a frame wide
enough to take a Monty wheelset you can then modify it by replacing the existing
wheel with a Monty trials rim and tyre (Because of the tyre size you need a
special rim). The resulting unicycle is fantastic fun for trials riding.

The idea behind trials riding is to ride over anything in your way, eg stairs,
picnic tables, boulders, benches, walls etc.

The advantage of a Monty wheel is the huge tyre gives you a lot of extra bounce.
This makes landing big drops and pulling off high jumps a lot easier. Dan Heaton
rides one in universe and manages to pull off incredbile stunts on it (eg Jumps
onto a picnic table in one go).

Speaking of which, does anyone have a list a frames that will fit a monty
conversion? If people will send me any frames they know of (the name, not the
frame), I will post all of it. So far I know of:

Schwinn 24" Semcycle 20"? United 24"? Paul Wyganowski trials frame

PS No connection with “The Full Monty”, is there?

Where the stock wheelset is replaced with a Monty Trials fat 20" trials tire &
rim. A very grippy, bouncy, low-pressure tire and the fat little rim to
accompany it.

Looks like fun, I haven’t had a chance to try one yet.

Montagnards? They are hill and mountain people from Vietnam. I bet they would
love the Monty unis if they ever tried them.

Some of us like to have a beer or two before saddling up on our Montys so
perhaps we should be called “Hopheads”?

Mods - as in the modified trial bikes the tyre comes from?

Re: [Re: what do you call them?]

Any of the 24" Taiwanese frame fit them without too much of a problem, (in the
UK that is the Dodger, Rogue, Nimbus and Bogglefinger) even some of the 20" ones
do, I have fitted one in a 20" Bogglefinger frame and it was tight, but it did
fit. I would love to see if they fit in a 20" pashley because they are quite a
decent frame and come with a Susue hub as standard - has anyone tried it?

Re: what do you call them?

Sure were. The Mods zoomed around on mopeds with small chucky tyres not a
million miles away from the Monty.
