well, the time has come...IM anti-search feature

yeah true, but its just a little annoying …

Re: well, the time has come…IM anti-search feature

What none of you guys seem to have realised is that rec.sport.unicycling
is a newsgroup, and that unicyclist.com simply provides a web based
portal to access it.

What this means is that almost all of your ISPs either do carry RSU, or
are capable of carrying it, so you can simply download it with Outlook
Express, or whatever newsgroup client software you prefer.

However, the main advantage is that google has a log of every post
ever made to RSU. And as Google also has arguably the best search
engine on the net, this should make finding stuff sooooo much easier.

See, clever isn’t it!

Nah, 'tis t’other way around.

The newsgroup has been going for much longer than the forum, although
it’s usage since the forum portal started is probably 99% forum based.

I can’t think of one example where a forum has been ported to a
newsgroup, although the other way around has happened a fair few times.
It’s almost as if anything that doesn’t start with www. is too confusing
for some people to use!

The only people that can stop you posting to a newsgroup is your ISP,
but that is very very rare. However, Gilby can probably block posts
from a certain newsgroup user from appearing in his forum… if he chose
to do so.

STM

…I haven’t heard something this childish in a long time. Gilby provides an amazing service to people who do things most people haven’t ever heard of, for free, and you’re upset that one little thing doesn’t go your way?

Go make your own forum if it bothers you so much. I’m sure it’ll be a hit.

Uh…didn’t you already post those?

In a rather relevant way, no he didn’t. He’s using Outlook to access the newsgroup, not the www.unicyclist.com webpage, and something obviously went a little wrong, and it double-posted. Gilby’s always having trouble integrating the tree-style newsgroup layout into the forum setting.

No, its just that having to use an email client to access a newsgroup is a horrendous pain in the backside. I like being able to read the newsgroup from anywhere, on any pc, and have all the image features and text options.

Loose (on Anna’s computer).
