wakeboarding

is there anyone here who does his? I was thinking about getting into it and I was wondering a few things

I used to ride wakeboards relatively frequently, but that was about 8 years ago. Its a blast, but I dont have access to a boat anymore.

well i got water ski’s - rings and knee boards coming outta the wazooo.

but never tried wakeboarding.

i have wakeboarded heaps of times before, its great fun and pretty easy to learn.

we have a jet boat which is pretty cool, we’ve got lots of skis, a wakeboard, kneeboard and infalatbale stuff. i can’t waterski to save my life, i cant kneeboard either but i havent tried much with it. i’m good at wakeboarding though, i can jump the wake of the boat

kneeboarding is easy, and you can use medium / large jetski’s to toe them.

Kinda broke my speed boat :o hitting a sand dune under the water at around 60mph kinda does that

Yeah i can kneeboard! I love going really fast and just bailing into the water! Its funny if you video it and slow it right down when you fall off, the expressions on your face when you hit the water are priceless!

Rock on!

My sister bought her boyfriend one for his birthday last year and we took it on holiday in January. I can get up and carve a bit but anything too fancy and I get off balance and stack it. Hitting the water at high speed ain’t no fun, especially if the board doesn’t come off your feet so the rest of your body wants to keep going while the board pretty much stops dead from the drag. Also get some good lube. Makes getting your feet in the boots so much easier.

I have skis and stuff like that that are my dads but we don’t have a wkaeboard. I go with my uncle who uses his brothers boat and they have a wakeboard but I have to wait until the person that owns the boat to go because I don’t know how to do it and neither does my uncle of cousin(who wouldn’t try it because she want even stand on here knees and let go on a tube.)

If you’re “wondering a few things”, why don’t you post your questions?

I’ll agree with some of the other posters; it’s quite easy to learn… once I figured out how to start whilst in the water (it took me an hour of attempts) the riding bit was quite like snowboarding, surfing or even skateboarding. If you can do any of those sports with some proficiency, wakeboarding will be no problem.

Of course, you depend a lot on your boat driver to make the experience safe and fun for you… make sure your “captain” has some experience towing skiiers / boarders or it might be a longer learning curve for the both of you.

ok my questions are what are some good websites about wakeboarding and I have answered the rest

That is not quite true, sure you are strapped to a board, but it is more similar to surfing than snowboarding. Snowboarding is more about directing yourself with your rear foot and body, surfing uses your front leg to direct yourself. The 2 sports have an entirely different feel, as for skateboarding and wakeboarding, they are the most similar. The one thing that takes a while to get used to with wakeboarding is the fact that you have something pulling you, when you fall, remember to let go…i had a problem of not letting the rope go when i was first learning haha

what do you want to know??
i wakeboard every weekend of summer (except for this one because of my baby brother) umm i can do 360*s and stuff …i almost landed a frontflip once

to start out you just have the board paralell to the back of the boat and you get up slow. once you are up you have to turn the board so that you are riding it like a skateboard and youre gone

btw…knowing how to ski helps i got up first try
im the best in my school @ slalom (water) skiing…

btw i suck for how much i have done it!

now the only question I have is what are some good websites

what kind of websites?
websites to buy stuff?
or websites to teach you how to ride?

a little bit of both but manyly how since they have a wakeboard

im going wakeboarding in a month at lake almanor…i dont like it that much though im scared that fish are gonna bite my toes off :frowning: :frowning:

Do you do the slalom course? What is your personal best?

as far as wakeboarding goes, a few things to remember,

  1. Just relax when you’re sitting in the water, dont fight the boat

  2. When you are getting up, keep your arms streight! DO NOT pull the rope to your chest to try to get up faster, you will just create slack and end up on your butt

  3. Keep your knees bent

hope this helps, im on the lake 2-3 days a week during the summer and I mostly hit up the slalom course, but my bro is pretty damn good on a wakeboard, even with our small wakes
