You should’ve worn your new T-shirt
. Ok, maybe next spring, when it’s warm again.
On Nov 16th I will go to a unicycle workshop in NL. I intend to wear it then.
@Canapin maybe you should design a picture for a T-Shirt to promote unicyclist.com with the uni logo. Then all of us on the forum will wear such shirts and in no time the forum will fill up again.
Now I walk around with Wheelou’s design. I was so “lucky” that the first 2 Tshirts I ordered in XL arrived in size L and then when I called them they sent me the actual XL size for free. I can also wear the L-size, so I have 4 shirts now.
Yeah, something like „unicyclist.com - the place for balanced people“.
Chris is a serious unicyclist and I don’t believe he has a touring bar as eye candy. I’m sure he uses them as needed to suit his style for riding. Note filming while riding adds a next level of complexity and an activity for one of your hands. I will also note this is one of the most creative unicycling videos I have ever seen and not to mention Chris is one of the most positive ambassadors of unicycling online ever.
Of course. I wasn’t very serious when I wrote that. It was just something I noticed when I saw the video. I thought it was funny.
When I ride myself, I just see it as an extra place to put my hands, but some stretches I hold the seat when other stretches, I let my hands hang to my side.
Great job Finn, that was very enjoyable to watch. What an experience I’m jealous.
Not exactly an action video, but very impressive - and inspiring me to learn to ride waaaay slower than what I’m currently able.
Also, a use case for a 12" uni (or is it even smaller?)!
EDIT: I typed faster when I meant slower. So, yes, I can ride faster than that. But not as slow.
I often watch those vids by Mimo Seedler. The way he shifts from forwards to backwards to hops to one-wheeld riding or hopping onto the frame and rolling a few metres. Very impressive. Of course he tumbles a lot too, and that without any protection whatsoever. But he is very persistent.
Mimo Seedler: Love Letter | Street Unicycling
He does a lot of sick stuff, but for me, this must be one of his very best. Also, first time I saw someone grinding up a rail.
It’s amazing that he still has his limbs and head attached. He must have UPD’d thousands of times.
I would say that he FELL thousands of times. UPDs must be ine ten or hundred thousands!
ok you’re right. every time he nails a trick it would be an Unplanned Success, otherwise it is asking to FALL. Probably as soon as he completes a trick he moves on to the next challenge.
Ryan Kremsater: The Ex - Mountain Unicycling 2016
He doesn’t inspire me to try and do the same! But it’s inspiring to see what’s possible on a uni, and I took the resolution to push my limits a bit the next time when out on my muni. I’m sweating when I approach a 30cm drop, whereas Ryan…
Wow! I haven’t been following unicycling developments in most disciplines very closely since I returned to being an active rider again, so it was great to see such an incredibly talented Muni rider! I am very curious about a few things, so if anyone follows Muni closely, can you please let me know:
- Is the rider in that video (Ryan Kremsater) among the most elite Muni rides in the world?
- Is he still riding?
- Where would you place him in the top ten, if you had to take a swing at it?
- How many known Muni riders of this caliber (or very close to it) do you estimate there are in the world today?
- The video I just watched is about 10 years old. In the past 10 years, has Muni progressed, regressed, or pretty much stayed about the same in terms of the skill level of the top Muni riders?
- Has the number of top Muni riders who are still out there pushing the limits increased or decreased in the past 10 years?
- Who are the top Muni riders these days?
Thanks! I look forward to learning more about Muni and hopefully becoming more knowledgeable about its current state and where it’s heading.

To find some of the top riders, you can go to brand pages and see who they’re sponsoring (like Kris Holm, in Ryan’s case). Ben Soja has podiumed in numerous Muni competitions. There are lots of amazing, technically skilled riders, but there are different strength areas - from downhill to X-country to navigating rocky terrain - almost like trials. And if you want to go next-level, there’s freewheel Muni riding ![]()
If you really want to learn about the discipline I would recommend going to one of the meet-ups (such as Moab Munifest or STOMP) and talking to the riders and, even better, watching what they do. It is a lot of fun!
I mean it depends on which specific sub-category you are looking at, but he is probably still up there for technical riding and big jumps.
Yep, I was fortunate to ride with him after Grischa last year. Not super active from what I gather, but still riding.
Again depends on what exact category. Probably still up in the top 3 of big drops. Probably not winning any races at Unicon.
Somewhere ~ 50 globally?
I’d tend to say the top has remained similar, but (subjectively) I feel like there are more good riders nowadays. Even looking at old KH videos I think that some of his is still current top level riding, but nowadays there are a few more riders who could do it.
Kinda constant I think. There are never too many really pushing hard, since there is no living to be made out of it.
