What do you guys use for editing videos?
I’m looking for something easy to work with, and that works on linux.
Share your finds, please!
I don’t do action sport videos… But I will say these three are always my top Linux thoughts when people ask to edit videos on it:
- Openshot: Easy and simple to use, but lacks features
- Cinerella: Step up from Openshot but harder to use
- Blender: Awesome but steep learning curve
Thanks, I’ll look at those
I’m a hardcore Linux guy. I have various distros on it on every computer I’ve ever used except for my music workstation and my video editing machine. I’ve worked with Openshot a lot over the years and it’s been ok for basic editing, but for some reason it seems like it gets less and less stable as time goes on (and video complexity increases). Might just be me though.
I can’t stand Windows but I use Sony Vegas exclusively for editing. It might just be because it’s what I learned on nine years ago, but everything else just feels lacking. I’ve used Adobe’s video suite as well at work, but I can’t stand it (nor can I stand working on a mac).
The reason I respond is because I’m also curious as to a better Linux video solution than Openshot. If you find one, I’ll give it a shot too.
I’m tempted by those super complete softwares… But i don’t really want to spend days or weeks to learn how to use them.
I think I’m more suited for a mid difficult program.
At the moment I’m not rushing into that, but I’ll let you know my finds
I’ve been looking for Linux vid editors for years too, and the closest I’ve found to any that are useable were on Android.
These days I use the GoPro editor on my Windows gaming rig, though I’m tempted to go to Adobe Premiere, I’ve heard good things from others (and it works on Windows as well as Mac).
It depends on what you want to do, but for simple things I’ve been really happy with VLC. Will you post some of your videos here?
