unicyclist' in UK

Hi,
I have just got myself a 24" UNI and was wondering if there are any riders
in the Basildon, Essex area of the UK to help me learn to ride.

If not then I will have to try on my own and most proberly sustain some
major trauma due to me wiping out on to the concrete area of the garages
where I store the cycle.

Reply to my e mail or leave a message here.

thank you for helping the new boy.

Lee Marsh age 33 having a mid life crises I think.

Have you found the roster of unicyclists?
http://www.unicycling.org/roster/index.php?country=uk

There’s at least one guy from Essex on there.

(Having said that, I’ve always thought this roster would be much more
useful if it included a “Last Time Updated” field, so you could tell
which entries are years out of of date.)

Good luck learning. It’s certainly possible to learn by yourself, if
need be. (I did, without any injuries. )

Good luck.

You are not the only one with the midlife crisis. I am 40 and have just
started.

Nick,
Welcome to the club. Although at 33 I think you’re just going through a
pre-midlife crisis. I’m with Alan (or is it Rob? hmm) and several others
that have recently taken up uni as full fledged adults. We can all be
geezers someday. I started in June an will turn 43 this year.

Can’t help you with finding someone local, but I can point you towards
other unicyclists in the UK.

Check out http://www.unicycle.org.uk/ for the Union of UK Unicyclists (UUU),
a club for unicyclists in the UK. It costs £2 to join, and there is some
useful free information on the website.

Also, there is an email group for unicyclists in the UK. Go to
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/uk_unicyclists/ for details or send an email
to uk_unicyclists-subscribe@yahoogroups.com to join. There’s not much
traffic on the list, but if you post a request there you might find someone
local to you.

Hope that helps,

  • Richard
