You don’t know how much I wish I still had an old beater uni to do this with. . .
Instead, I’m stuck practicing mounts and teaching the wife how to ride in our great room.

yea i cant even really unicycle in my front yard right now, its pretty much flooded with debris everywhere, lol.
gotta love the non stop rain for 3 days straight.
How is she coming along?
5th day of rain in a row, and I dont care now! im going uniing…and its a bit slippery..but thats why i got every bit of armor i own on! ahahahahahhah
Pretty well. She’s definitely ready to to ride one hand on a fence, then try to roll to no hands. We’ve also started having her hold my arm and me walk.
Unfortunately, we’ve run out of of space for further progress, I think.
Awesome. More of us!! (And I’m speaking about female unicyclists in our group… not unicyclists in general.
)
As for the rain.. I’m about to head out in it tomorrow regardless of the weather or how many puddles I run into. I’ve ridden in the rain before using a poncho. I can do it again.
Although an umbrella as an accessory might be interesting.
When I did it, I had one of those goofy, yellow Gorton’s Fisherman rubber rainsuits. Kept the rain off, but I sweat like a pig in it. Also, the uni rusted. I just can’t do that to my wheels anymore.
you were spotted
Impersonate a goofy Gorton’s fisherman on a uni and there just might be a job offer in it for you. ![]()
A unicyclist was spotted on the Bridge of Lions Sunday the 10th of May around midmorning. I was in the area that day but not on the bridge. So it wasn’t me. A student of mine says it was a “big wheel” so I’m guessing a 29 or 36.
Whoever you are, he wants me to tell you that the scene of seeing a unicyclist on the bridge was an unforgettable site.
I haven’t gone uni’ing in almost 2 weeks! I hope it stops raining soon!
Wasn’t me. . .but I wish it was.
Schmitt has a 36 I think. . .
Cresent Beach
After a nice practice session with Divebomber in what turned out to be a beautiful early evening, I took Hobbes (my 29) out onto Cresent Beach. What a beautiful spot to ride! The sand was packed hard and went on for miles. I rode and rode and rode and continued to ride even after the sun went down. Eventually thunder warned me to turn back and head home.
Has anyone ridden at Cresent beach? Starting at Matanzas how far could you go north before the ride became too dependent upon the time of day (tides)? I’ve ridden at Anastasia before and recall that riding there often depended on the tides just like it does at many of the beaches in the Jax area. What is riding on St. Aug Beach like?
Butler Beach is about 6 miles from Matanzas. I’m wondering if you could easily go farther into St. Aug Beach and then to Anastasia. If it’s possible, it would be about 11 miles of beach riding from Fort Matanzas to Island Joe’s at Anastasia.
Doable on Hobbes. But I’d much rather try it on the Coker. That means working on that mount as I don’t expect the seagulls or pelicans would offer to assist.
I’m there.
Gina from Tennessee is in town visiting (Jax). It’d be really nice if we could get together for a ride/ clinic this weekend. Anyone interested? She’s real nice, rides a 20, 24, and occasionally a 26.
Jax area or St. Augustine; it’s all good.
Can do Jax.
A 24 or 26 is nice for riding the trails at Tillie. (Actually, a 36 does nicely, too.)
And I was at Jax Landing the other day and I’m really itching to do the bridges.
St. A is always nice, too. . .
The Landing area sounds nice. With the broken spoke, the rains, and now the end of the year stuff at school, I haven’t been able to do the Acosta. There’s always good riding around the Landing towards the Fuller Warren Bridge.
Saturday is out for me unless it is late afternoon or evening. Say .. after 4:15at least if its in the Jax area. All day Sunday I’m good to go.
How is the wife coming along with her riding? I actually asked my husband if he wouldn’t reconsider. Looks can kill.
She’s sort of stuck in the “one hand on something” phase. I keep trying to get her out to practice in the park nearby or even in our driveway, but she’s a might worried about what the neighbors might think.
She should join us for a clinic session someday. Divebomber and I meet weekly.
Gina and I are riding at the Landing Sunday. Please let us know if you can join us. PM or on the thread. It’s all good. Time is negotiable as neither of us have any other plans.
If the Landing isn’t good. We could ride somewhere else. Just not off road.
I was at the Landing today riding after the rains. There is some kind of boat show going on.
I’m not up for driving to Jax so I won’t make it. Plus, I’m having a medical procedure done on Monday. Gotta prep for that.
Divebomber: It was good meeting you and riding with you yesterday in Palm Coast. Keep up the good work and maybe we can ride again one day.
Peripatet: It was great meeting you too,(don't want you to feel left out), and riding at the Freindship Park, or should I say watching you ride? :astonished: (Unibugg made me add the emoticon).
