Unicycling film on BBC2 TV

Just heard the from BBC – the Video Nation short Aaron and I did some time ago will be shown on BBC 2 TV Wed 3rd Nov at around 10.25pm.

This is a film short only a couple of minutes long – previously available for streaming download on the BBC website but now also being shown on National BBC 2.

It is a personal view for the public’s consumption so don’t expect a demonstration of cutting edge technical riding - it’s more about muni and the publics perception of us.

Hope you enjoy it anyway.

Regards

Simon

nice one!

I remember watching it and it’s a good, thoughtful piece.

I did a search in Video nation & found this from 2002 by mistake!
videonation southampton_unicycle I’m confident it’s been mentioned here before, without checking!

This is the right link!

Thanks Mike, I am glad you liked it – should look a little better this time - being on the real TV so to speak.

Aaron and I wanted to do a real hard core film and include some very hard steep riding with high, big views of the fells etc. but that is not what Video Nation is about of course so they wouldn’t let us. But at least we got some unicycling on National TV anyway.

Hope you catch this in time. Is it still on? I can’t seem to find it
in the tv programma guide (paper). I think it should be 11:25 pm Dutch
time but I see a comedy starting at 10:30 (Dutch time) and News Night
at 11:30 (Dutch time).

Hi Klass,

Firstly thanks for the reminder. It should be on, my UK TV guide states:

2200 (GMT) Arrested Development followed by Video Nation Shorts. Public opinions on film.

2230 (GMT) Newsnight.

Therefore it should be on around 2225 GMT.

Our clocks changed on Sunday, I think NL changes the same day if so yes it is 1 hour different (approx 45 mins time)?

It’s a very short programme, on between Arrested Development and
Newsnight. It might not be listed in some papers.

Thanks Keith and Danny, I’ll set my video to it and watch it tomorrow.

Good night,

I don’t remember seeing that before… but the rider is James Please who used to post here. Has anyone heard from him lately?

OK that was a great little program. I think you hit exactly the right
‘tone’ in your statements and the riding and the environment were nice
to watch. Well done Simon and Aaron!

Thanks Klass very pleased you enjoyed it - particularly as what BBC wanted to do and what we wanted to do did not always coincide!

Did anyone else notice the 3rd unicyclist on the program? It looked like a clip from the Southampton based film appears in the intro sequence.

It was good to see it on BBC2 rather than just the lower quality web version.

Keith

Hi Keith - was it a unicycle or a UW? - hopefully someone at home has recorded it in high quality DVD for me, so I might be able to see that title sequence again and answer my own question.
Simon
BTW are you OK for 10th -12th June next year for BMW Part II?

D*mn!

I’m reading this thread for the first time on Thursday 4th…

Don’t worry - you didnt miss a great deal - it was a personal view and only a couple of minutes long but if you still want to view it you can do so via the BBC Video Nation Archive.

Simon

I’m not Keith and I didn’t record it on DVD. But I noticed that 3rd unicyclist too. This picture taken off the TV screen may not be too clear but it’s definitely a unicycle, not a(n) UW.

I’m sure that is a clip from the Southampton film of a couple of years back. Mike Penton posted a link to it near the start of this thread.

Simon - I will be putting BMW in the diary but can’t commit until much nearer the time (the 12+ hour drive is still too fresh in my mind…)

Keith

Wow, the man talking in the video seems like such a nice person.
Wouldn’t mind having him for an uncle.

lol, yes he’s a very nice guy  so lucky to be his son. . .
Aaron

You’re only saying that because he let you finish some of his sentences for him.

Good stuff & one of the wheels I built is famous too now
