This is not strictly true. Some of the VCRs available today CAN play both
formats. It is usually the higher in the range or more expensive models. It is
worth checking to see if your VCR has this capability if you intend to aquire
videos from abroad. You may not need the conversion after all.

Panasonic and Mitsubushi are two manufacturers that I know definately make this
type of VCR.

Nah, I’ll do it for you if you care to run out here. :slight_smile: After living in both
countries several times, we finally got smart and bought a converter…
