Afrter GILD’s post about Uni-squash I thought I’d start a thread to find out what sports have been played on a unicycle. First hand reports only (no ‘my brother’s, mate’s, cousin once heard about…’)
while we r still trying to get enough uni’ers together to make up a hockey team, we’ve been messing about with a frisbee
i dont know if any of u have ever seen ‘frisbee-soccer’ played?
it’s a stunning game and one that lends itself to being played on uni’s
I don’t know what the rules of 'frisbee-soccer" are but I suppose they are similar to a game I play called Ulitimate Disk (some people call it Ultimate Frisbee but Frisbee is a trademarked name and so purists like me use the Disk moniker) It is played on a field about the same size as soccer or american football. I haven’t tried to play Ultimate on a unicycle mostly because I don’t have any friends with the requisite skill sets in both Unicycling and Ultimate. I have tried to throw a disk while on a unicycle and the motion of the thrower’s arm causes a rotational effect which is a little hard to counter balance when riding but it isn’t impossible. In regular ultimate you arn’t allowed to run or walk when you have the disk. If this rule was applied to Unicycle Ultimate (Ultiuni?) then the thrower would presumably have to throw from an idle which actually makes it much harder (at least for me) to throw.
How does frisbee-soccer work? Is it similar to ultimate frisbee with a
(soccer-sized) net?

I just got back from UNICON (I had to leave early) and I’m proud to say I was in a group of the first Americans ever to play Quidditch. It was awesome. There wasn’t that much interest in it, unfortunately. We did manage to do one game, and I think we cut a position or two due to lack of folks. My team (Slytherin) was quite a bit ahead, but Griffendor beat us with a catch of the golden snitch. As the seeker for team Slytherin, there was a special disgrace reserved for me, as I was beat by an 11 year old girl.
If anybody on th east coast of US wants to put some games together, I am totally there.
i suspect the game i saw must’ve been a game of ultimate disk
in reconstructing it from memory, i simply called it soccer as it bears a striking resemblance
are there official rules/sites for ultimate disk?
the field is like an american football field whereas there are endzones that you need to get to. you use a disk made of 175 grams that looks like this:
Were you picked for this team and position for any reason? Your posts make you sound a well balanced, kind-hearted person so I’m sure you weren’t. In the HP books the Slytherin seeker, Draco Malfoy, is an obnoxious little s**t who deserves to be beaten by an 11 year old girl (with a large club)
I’m a pretty nice guy, but I was playing up my slytherin role. I was taunting the Griffendor players and talking trash. I didn’t choose Slytherin, but I did choose to be seeker.
