Unicon XIII - Switzerland - 23 July to 2 August 2006

I was just quoting the information right from the website. From what I understand they are having trouble with some of the details. I don’t know much more then that as I focus on the data. But, I do know that the lodging will get worked out soon as it is one of those things that has to get done. There is still plenty of time before Unicon so I’m not too worried.

The person responsible for lodging has a little bit too much on his plate right now. We are only a small team setting UNICON XIII up.

As I have not yet received the data to setup the lodging form, I must say that mid of March sounds about right.

Workshops
There is now a new web page devoted to workshops at Unicon. You can view the current workshops and can submit to run one. Workshops can be just about anything from mini-competitions, fun rides, world record attempts, get togethers, fun basketball games, etc. Just about anything goes. Right now the only workshop on the page is the video competition. I’m starting to ask people to run workshops so start thinking now of one before all the good ideas are taken. Remember, more then one person can run a workshop.
English: http://www.unicon13.ch/workshops/en/
German: http://www.unicon13.ch/workshops/de/ - The German version won’t be up for a couple days yet so if you hit the link you get a nasty error page.

Back in December, 2005 the organizers estimated attendance by country. They used Unicon 12 data and input from many sources around the world. As you can see by the estimates, in the brackets above, some countries are doing better then expected and some aren’t quite there yet. Unicon is still four months away and there is plenty of time for many more to register. I’m still hoping that we can break the attendance number of Unicon 12 of 1500.

Some other updates:

Schlumpf Unicycle Giveaway Schlumpf is sponsoring Unicon by giving away five Schlumpf geared unicycles:

  • two for the winners of the marathon (fastest woman, fastest man)
  • same for the 10k race
  • one uni for the fastest rider at the Schlumpf race (see the workshop page)
A rider can only win one Schlumpf unicycle so the unicycle would be awarded to the second place winner in that case.

On the website, if a workshop is only in German (or English) check back later as we are constently translating. I’m always looking for more people to run a workshop. If you have an idea on a workshop or would like to run a workshop and don’t know what to do let me know as I can help.
