Hello unicycling community,

I am the organizer for this year’s Trials competition at Unicon. To make the competition bigger and more interesting, we decided to invite the community to build the Trials course with us. Everybody who is interested to have his own special obstacle can send in suggestions for the course and we will try to build as many as possible. To make sure that we can understand how you want your personal obstacle to look like, you should stick to some simple rules:

Make a drawing of it. We prefer a 3D sketch designed in SketchUp.
Write down the specifications of each part of the obstacle (millimeters).
Use preferably the “standard” materials (see list below).
If you want, mark several lines on one obstacle. There are usually between 2 to 3 different lines on one obstacle.
Don’t make it too dangerous.
Remember that up to 200 riders will take part in the competition. The obstacle has to survive them all.
Name the obstacle if you want.
Post a screenshot of the sketch in this thread and send the original file to: info@unicon17.ca.
Alternatively, you can post the SketchUp model on the 3D Warehouse, and we will review it and add it to one of our “Trials Competition” collection.

List of “standard” materials:
Canadian pallets. You can download this SketchUp component from our Warehouse account here: http://goo.gl/etfwuy
Plywood 1/4” - 1/2" (10mm - 12mm)
2” x 4” planks (40 x 90 mm)
Metal tubing

The Trials competition will be held on the Esplanade Financière Sun Life, in front of the Olympic Stadium. The area already includes some interesting Trials lines, which could be included to the course. If you would like a 3D model of the Trials area of the Esplanade, please send a request to info@unicon17.ca.

We want to build around 20 easy, 30 medium and 20 hard lines, as well as 10 final lines. It would be nice if you could take that into account. If you want, you can send in multiple obstacles. Some ideas for obstacles can be found here: http://www.krisholm.com/archive/sections/index.html. If you need more inspiration, check out Trials videos on Youtube or Vimeo.

We will accept submissions until Friday, May 16th. After this date, lines will be compiled and analysed, and a 3D model of the Trials course will be available for download on our website at the beginning of August.

If you have any other questions, feel free to write to me at info@lutzeichholz.de.
