uni to psych

Hello!

I’ve been having fun unicycling around campus (South Dakota State U) on my new
20" miyata. School started yesterday, and it’s very nice to uni to all my
classes. I’ve got quite the rep already. Funny!

Not only do I get smiles and comments from cute guys, but my teachers get quite
a kick out of it too. I just bring my uni inside and lean it in the corner.
Yesterday when I went to my psychology class, there was a little coat rack in
the back, so I just hung it up on the hook, by the tire, and sat down.

It’s a huge class - HUGE! (300 plus?) - and the professor comes in and before he
even mentions a thing about the class, he says, “OK, I have a question. Who in
the HELL would ride a UNICYCLE to class on the first day? There’s a unicycle
hanging up back there!” I claimed it, and he looked at me and said, “You? Let me
ask the rest of you - is there something WRONG with this person?” Everyone
started saying no, to my surprise, and of course a few said yes to be funny. So
the teacher said, “There’s a few people saying yes! I’ve never had anyone ride a
unicycle to class before.”

Afterward, my friends (that I didn’t even know were in the class with me) came
up to me and said they couldn’t believe he picked on me like that. Actually I
thought it was pretty funny.

And in philosophy we also got into a little discussion about unicycling -
efficiency, cost, careers, bears and orangutans (we didn’t get into
animal abuse!)

My unicycling and juggling club starts meeting next week, so I’m getting very
excited for that. By unicycling to classes, I can stir up interest and recruit a
lot of people!

Re: uni to psych

Your professor may have just been performing a little impromptu experiment to
determine what kind of person would do something strange like riding a unicycle
to class. You could turn the table on him and claim that you are working with a
grad student on his psychology experiment. Tell the professor that his reactions
and comments have been noted.

Be very suspicious of everything strange that goes on in a psychology building.
In fact, you should be suspicious of any strange happenings, strange encounters,
or strange confrontations on a college campus that has a
psychology department, especially around the second half of any term – It could
be a psychology experiment.

For some fun at the end of the term ride your unicycle to the final exam.

Re: uni to psych

I’m almost finished my second week of classes and still haven’t had the guts to
ride my uni to class. I’m kind of apprehensive of riding a unicycle to my
engineering classes. Who knows, maybe I’ll try it one of these days. I do
already have the rep tho, and everyone’s asking why I don’t ride to class. Oh
well, I’m trying to start a unicycling club here. I’ve already aroused quite a
bit of interest, so there’s hope. Hehe, I’ll keep ya posted. Keep riding!!

Re: uni to psych

School just started this week here too. Today for the first time, we had 2
kids riding unis to school, my son and his friend. They’re both in 2nd grade.
We’re well known as “Those unicycle guys” from last year. Nothing but
positive feedback!

Loved the story about Psych class!
