Uni tatoos?

Hi every one. I’m a long time poster on MTBR.com (mountain bikes) but this is my first time here.

Does anybody have unicycle related tatoos?

I’m fairly confident on the roads, and trails, and dropoffs, now I’m going out today, and not coming back until I can ride backwards…or I get hungry

I live in Ontario (1 of 2 riders in my town) , and it’s nice to make your aquaintances

RE: Uni tatoos?

No tattoos… just scars

Welcome to RSU,

Sofa, would you be “Sofakingweetoddid” from MTBR. I post on there from time to time, but I mainly stick to the singlespeed board. I remember some of your posts about muni a long time ago and it encouraged me to get into unicycling. What kind of muni to ya got? If I remember, it had a 26 inch wheel and a brake. cheers… Mojoe

that’s me!

Hey Mojoe, it’s been awhile since the longer name, I reduced it to Sofa to be a little more PC.

That’s right, it’s a 26"r with a Magura brake. If I can figure out how to post pics…

I’m glad I could encourage you, I wouldn’t say I like this better than MTB, but it’s damn close!

Cool Sofa, what cranks are those??? They look like the Specialized Strong Arm cranks I run on my singlespeed. Did you braze the brake mounts on? If so, did you have to sand down the crome plating first? Joe

Good eyes! They are the stock cranks that came on my 1998 FSR. My stock-uni cranks warped on a drop, and were sooooo short. These may be a bit long, but they seem to be fine.

I sent my uni, along with a diagram, to Specialtied Bicycles in Toronto. He brazed on the brake bosses, and the ‘handlebar’. It cost $50cdn for that. The black paint you see in the picture is what he must’ve used as a finisher, but I don’t know what he did to prep it, if anything.

The brake, by the way, is only handy while downhilling. It slows down the wheel enough to make a steep descent fell like a flat trail, with no need to back pedal, and that’s pretty cool!

I have no tatoos, uni or otherwise, but my constant threat/promise to my wife
(similarly tatoo-free) is that if/when I get one it will be of a unicycle.

Me too. Except my wife has two tattoos (dolphins), and she keeps bugging me
what am I afraid of.

The example I would follow is the tattoo I photographed on Sammy Hellwig in
1994 or so. He had a very nice, simple, colorful standard unicycle on his
bulging calf muscle (right where the “unicycle” muscle is). One of these
days I’ll have to put some of this stuff on my Web site. For the moment,
I’ve tossed it up on John Hooten’s page:

Enjoy,

bathroom light bulb in a 737?” Based on what I saw on the way home from
Phoenix recently, three!

well, here are some kick-ass jugglong tattoos. I plan on getting something juggling/uni related in the future, but right now, i’m just into piercings.

uni tattoos

my main uni-mate (and co-founder of GUS, gauteng unicycling society) just got a very kewl self designed juggling unicyclist on his right ankle
as soon as a digipic is available i’ll post it
i have some skin art, including a toltec temple carving featuring one of the oldest depictions of a juggler we know of
the original only featured two balls
untill the glorious year of our lord 1994 (so i’m led to believe) when the portsmouth juggling federation wanted to use the image on a poster to publisize their convention
they decided that they couldn’t possibly have a two ball juggler and promptly copied and pasted the third ball above his head
i decided to have the modified version tatood as it gives the tattoo the cute lil’ message of ‘sod the indians and their ancient wisdom, the portsmouth juggling federation is where it’s at!!’
i hope the pic attaches
i’m definately due for another tattoo sometime soon
i’m looking for a kewl unicycle design to have done
suggestions?

Great pics at that site, Dave. I have pondered for some time about whether
to get a unitat and if so, what design. My hunch is that I’d get sth
minimalistic, like a simple profile of a uni.

Re: Uni tatoos?

Hi Sofa
i have a 9" lady (definitely female) unicyclist on my right calf above the
