I recently took delivery of a 29" unicycle from mad4one. Nice uni overall but one side of the rim joint is uneven, as shown. It’s obviously a manufacturing defect, probably during the cutting process. Is this fairly common??

Rims are rolled from straight parts, and the joint always show. But yes, this one is particularly ugly!
Nothing that a little putty can‘t deal with. 
Hard to say how deep the indent is, but it‘s certainly outside of what I would consider normal.
