Hi fellow unicyclists
Here is the next date for our Uni meet Saturday 30th June 2001 This uni
meet will be held in conjunction with the Black Country Youth Games at:
Aldersley Leisure Village Aldersley Wolverhampton WV6 9NW Please note the
change of venue.
Over 900 youngsters along with as many parents, spectators, team managers
and officials will gather at Aldersley Leisure Village for an Olympic
style sports festival, with the emphasis firmly on the spirit of friendly
competition. The Youth Games is part of Sport England’s nationwide
initiatives, so this would also give us an opportunity to show that
unicycling is a sport and not just an art form.Therefore in the future we
hopefully would be able to get Sports Grants!
It will start at 10.00am and finish at 8.00pm. The cost will be £5
for the day.
A provisional programme would be
10.30am - 12.30am Trackracing
11.30am - 1.00pm Break/Freetime/Practice
12.00pm – 4.00pm UnicycleHockey
13.00pm - 8.00pm Workshops, Freetime/Practice/Artistic Skills/Uni
Games/Uni dancing/free space etc
There is a full athletics’ track available for us to do races etc. If
you would like to do racing we will need someone to organise it. ANY
VOLUNTEERS? There is plenty of space in this huge sports hall so if
you want to practice while uni hoc is being played you can. There is
also a viewing gallery for the public to watch (for the exhibitionists
amongst you!)
I have been booked to do a circus skills workshop at this event so I
personally will not be available or taking part but will help out where I
can. I would therefore ask for volunteers to help organise/help at this
event to make it a success. This event is being televised and will be
broadcast on Regional TV. This is a golden opportunity to get unicycling
promoted especially with Eurocycle coming up too.
We also have a circus club on a Sunday which runs from 10.00am - 8.00pm.
This will be held at Stourport High School, Windermere Way,
Stourport-on-Severn. If you would like to stay at my place please phone
to check!! Plenty more time to practice and we also do juggling,
tightrope, walking globe, trapeze and much more. If you would like to
stay over you could crash at my place, bring a sleeping bag.The cost
would be £5.00 for the Sunday club. If you come to both days (Sat& Sun)
the cost will be £8.00.
