Is UDC UK down for everyone, or just me?
Right now at 11:06 am is up and working fine as far as I can tell
When I try to go on it I get this:
Fatal error: Call to a member function asXml() on a non-object in /home/unicycle/public_html/app/code/core/Mage/Core/Model/Layout/Update.php on line 277
Strange
Very strange. It is definitely working fine from where I am located.
Working fine here too, and also at 10:30 when I was looking earlier
I’m on Chrome on Win7 - what browser are you using as that looks like it might be a browser specific thing?
I’m on an android phone, and its all updated properly…
Strange
Edit: I tried requesting it as a desktop site and it works fine. I guess the mobile version of the site is playing up.
I’m getting the same fatal error message, but I’m also using android. As you say, must be the mobile site that’s down. At least it stops me spending more money I don’t have!
Hi guys
The gang are out of the office today. They are celebrating Nick and Sophie’s wedding.
You’ll be able to spend your pennies again on Monday.
Yepp, mobile site appears to be down, checked my various mobile devices
Ahh as long as it isn’t just me
Time to revive an old thread…
Is UDC UK down for everyone, or just me?
This time I have checked both mobile and PC versions on my phone
Looks good to me on both desktop/mobile
DDOS attack
The website is under a sophisticated DDOS attack. This started at 16:00 on Friday and is on going. The whole server ring is up and down like anything. Even when it was up it was unable to take orders.
We have several teams of engineers fighting this to try and get the servers up and running. The attack is following the IP addresses as we switch them and block ports… I hope that they can get it sorted soon.
Roger
Damn Roger, why would anyone want to DDOS a unicycle sales site?
We don’t know. There are quite a few other sites on the Server Ring, so we could just be accidental damage. But who knows what these hackers are thinking?
If I found out more I will post up to say, but we have not had the full report yet, they are still fighting.
Roger
Well thanks for the update Roger and I hope you manage to sort it.
Oh and the site is working for me now
Why are those ports not blocked to begin with! Firewalls should be pierced sparingly
In all seriousness, I hope you manage to get it stopped soon DDOS attacks are some of the easiest to do and yet hardest to block.
Better hosting has each site isolated on a different virtual machine.
We have a fuller story now. We are hosted on a virtual machine, but that does not mean that the server does not have some shared resources and it were these that were falling over with the brute force of this attack. The problem was caused by some websites that were moved last week to the server and it looks like it was these that were moved because they were under attach else where. They had not informed our server company about this… irresponsible!
Of course the firewall only opens the ports it needs to but it applies complicated filtering of the ports that it does open to allow the site to function. I will not claim to know much about this at all…
They have been dealt with and the site is coming back on line. It will take sometime. It will take orders at the moment, but it is running slower than it should and if it is not showing at the moment then I suggest that you refresh your cache. We hope to have things sorted tomorrow afternoon.
Roger
