tyre valve problem

Today I was just about to go out on my 29er. I went a little way and then decided that the tyre seemed a bit soft so I came home to pump it up. As I pumped I got that ominous hissing, as the inner tube went down. I took the tyre off and saw that the valve had pulled away from the inner tube. This is the second time that it’s happened to me, with different unicycles in the past few months. Is it a particular ‘thing’ with unicycles or am I pumping the tyres up to roughly?

Thanks for any comments.

I really dont know, its happened to me before, I guess its just the valve/tube wearing out.

That’s never happened to anything that I’ve ever owned, including bikes. Maybe it’s a problem with the nozzle on your air line? If it’s happened twice with two different tubes then it’s probably not a defective tube.

I think the chances are that you’ve just been unlucky twice, valve failures are not uncommon, I can’t see how you could have brought one on any quicker than it would have happened anyway. Just make sure there’s nothing obviously wrong like a sharp edge on the nozzle hole in the rim.
