Trials Discussion Thread

should i slowly build up the heights i am jumping and will it be eaiser to jump higher with sif (once i get used to it)?

Yes and if it doesnt feel easier then youre not used to it enough

:)thanks:)

i am getting alot better at SIF!!! i can side-hop up 3 pallets. sadly i havnt been able to do any trials all week because i almost knocked my teeth out and dont want to take the risk of messin them up any more then i have. but i might ride next week. hey lets se some pictures of trials courses id like to see some

Today I did some trials.

New (rolling) crankgrab height record.
New (SI) gap record.

Not sure of mesurments but I know they are my best.

I also did a nice line a bunch of times. It had a 75ish cm up to my gap record and then drop.

Today, I was doing a SIF sidehop up some stairs, and one time I was really off balance. As I pulled my uni up, my head went down a lot, and I smashed the seat into my throat. It kind of hurt.:o Has something similar happened to anyone else?

I’ve hit my face, don’t think I’ve ever hit my throat before… good job!

ive hit my chin and chest before

I haven’t rode my trials uni in months. Honestly.

My trials bike gets way more use now. Maybe converting?

anybody ever tried to Sif drop backwards. i tried it down a 4 foot ledge and it didnt end up too hapily haha.

I’ve tried like sif 180’s only down 2 steps or something, landed it, but was weird. I’d really like to learn how to rolling sif 180 up stuff like Zack Baldwin down up that picnic table. Not sure what movie that was in. That is still one of the single most impressive moves I have ever seen. I tried and I can’t even 180 sif up 3 pallets.

haha, that was Defect,LOL. I never have really tried SIF 180s up stuff. i should give it a try and see how high i can do it.

after seeing max’s new video, i just straight up donot practice enough…i can sif table tops but not consistently… and i am getting better with skinnies… but still…

i just need to be better then i was at naucc

I can sif roll hop up picnic tables. But, I haven’t put the 180 spin in yet. I’ve 180’d onto lower stuff, but nothing as high as a picnic table. I’m so used to the mechanics of landing static that the additional momentum you land a sif roll hop with makes the skill a bit tricky at first, especially when you’re landing backwards onto something. I’ll get it down. It’s a recent goal of mine.

I believe at NAUCC '05 he 180 sif roll hopped up 7 pallets.

this is trials leave that 180 crap where it belongs.

No joking - it’s a wicked move.

actually 180’s can be very effective in some trials lines so it is good to be able to do them good :sunglasses:

I have no idea why that is so difficult. I guess its because you don’t see the ground as well or something because whenever I do that I fall flat.

ya its hard aproching the ledge becouse you cant see it. i gues if your on a larger surface and know where it is its not that hard. i do it off picnic tables all the time. but skinny higher stuff is tough

Try to do them late. Works better for me that way. Slowly move the upper body and about a foot before landing, twist the lower half and carry out a quick 180. Keep the twist going when you land, about half or a full rev of going backwards, another 180 and can ride off.

How many of you practice highjumping a bar? I’ve been getting around 100cm or so and it’s way more difficult than getting on a ledge.
