Tired legs!! Help?

Hey hey, it’s me again.

My hit and miss has definitely improved. I’m up to riding down curbs and such. I’m not too keen on turning yet, but I can ride 1-1/2 to 2 city blocks now. The only thing that stops me from going further, other than turning obviously, is my TIRED legs.

I feel that I keep taking my weight off of the seat to keep the unicycle from wobbling in a little zig-zag as I pedal. It smooths my riding out tremendously, but I feel that I’m putting a LOT of pressure on the pedals, sort of muscling them into balance past each vertical point as if I were track-standing as I ride. Is this something I’ll get over and eventually sit a little more, or is this normal, and should I keep doing it and just toughen up? I’ve only ridden a few blocks on a cold night and I’m sweating up a storm!

keep sitting dont stand up unless your balls start hurting try to position your self right in the center of the unicycle dont lean back. if you lean foward it might help you a bit but i do not recomend it when your pushing down with one leg rest the other as the petals go round this might help you a bit from not becoming so tired.

Just time, at first all of our legs were sore. Its just alot of people aren’t used to using the muscles so much, so its a massive workout. You are doing everything fine, and within a week or two the pain will start to lessen. In the mean time just use Aspirin.

it doesnt hurt that much

It’s excersise dude… it takes some getting used to… I ride a mile and half uphill back from school everyday (with between 10 and 15 lbs on my back) and the first couple weeks my legs were shaking walking in the door… now they’re a little fatigued, but I rest for 10 minutes and then go out and ride some more

I’m with Catboy. Just give your legs time and work, and they’ll adapt to the effort quite nicely.

i ride 3 miles to school

Wow, really?!?!

Is it uphill both ways!?!

yes and are you being sarcastic
probably so i dont really care

OMFG…

You just have to get used to riding for a while, at first you are really tense trying to keep your balance up so in time riding long distance will be a matter of sadle not legs.

Your just using muscle that you haven’t used before…your probably also pretty tensed up, just try and relaxe. Also, your seat could be alittle low, tray and raise it see if it makes a difference.

Re: Tired legs!! Help?

Devicycle, it’s normal to have tired legs when you are learning. Keep
practicing is one thing to get that better. Sit more on the seat is
another because if you have a lot of weight on your pedals, your legs
are fighting each other.

I was fairly fit when I started riding and still got quite a workout
going a few blocks. Technique is more of a factor than strength on
the street. After a while it becomes so easy it is hard to remember
the struggle. Then you can try riding off road and discover what a
massive workout really is!

Were you trying for this:

You need the command ([ SIZE=4]) before your entry and the exit ([/size]) after. Note that I added a space in the command ([ SIZE=4]) to make it not happpen - it’s a computer, you not only have to tell it everything, you have to tell it exactly the right way.

Are there 5 foot snow drifts until June, too? snigger

All formatting commands added manually  , really, I didn’t use the buttons! :astonished:

Hmmm, sorry, in Saskatoon there might be. snigger, chuckle

The first month my legs ached also; So I guess it’s normal. Just keep at it.
