THREAD KILLER in our midst????!!!

i don’t consider the title ‘thread killer’ neccesarily as an insult
i would use that term in a complimentary way to describe john childs
because of his habit of answering a threads main question in such a thorough way, that no futher discussion is neccesary

i think in my case, i do flog the odd dead horse and since i have this terminal problem with trying to get in the last word…

Perhaps a new term is needed.

How about Thread-Putterer-to-Rester or maybe Thread-Nipperer-in-the-Bud.

i think those are two distinctly different roles and i do think that we need more of both sometimes

NO!

Threadkiller is an AWESOME term!!!

Hey John: With the resulting analysis, it seems like you could offer some help thread killers identify themselves and help them identify what they do to kill, if it’s inadvertent.

This has been stated before on this thread. I think it applies much more to RecSport than to Just Conversation. The point of RecSport is different from JustConversation.

Just Conversation is like when we’re all sitting around the bar having a lively conversation, and it’s fun. Then you arrive and quietly listen while the conversation continues.

Then you say something. :astonished: :astonished: :astonished:

Then nobody says anything else… :astonished: :astonished: :astonished:

Oops, sorry Greg. I went soft there for a minute. Won’t happen again.

B

Let’s see who kills this thread… He would have to be the ultimate killer…

No, Bruce, don’t worry. It’s not you. It’s just that the term THREADKILLER has such an AWESOMENESS to it that it can’t be denied!!! :astonished: :astonished:

DON’T YOU THINK THREADKILLER IS, LIKE, THE MOST AWESOME TERM YOU’VE, LIKE, EVER HEARD? IT’S SO AWESOME!!!

I’m, like, sure you, like of all people for sure, understand!!! :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, my, I forgot to leave the caps lock on. :frowning: :frowning:

Hey, these AWESOME emoticons really clarify my thought process and ability to express myself. I feel like I’ve hugged a tree or John Childs.

Thread killers have different qualities in different forums.

IE:

  1. I tend to be a thread killer in a ‘tech’ forum I belong.
… Due to I give a solution/answer to a posters question or problem. (last post)
… (and the original postes rarely post back a ‘thank you’)
… and as metioned above I usually DO ‘thank you’ an reply to any of my threads. (last post)

  2. In an ‘off topic’ forum. I tend to ‘correct’ or ‘straighten out’ some rather unrulely thread topics before they turn ugly sometimes.
(in a sort of ‘forum police’ kinda way)

Anyway … those are some ‘thread killer’ patterns I’ve noticed.

Thanks for being there for us.

Whoa, Greg, you gotta bring it down just a little, please! I’m getting real misty-eyed just thinking about the awesomeness of the word, Threadkiller. What a rush, man. Let’s do it again! I gotta sit down…

You know, while I’m sitting her, I’m sort of taking a liking to the word, Awesomeness, too. What a grand word to roll off the tongue. I think I will spend the world to rename my boys after these two magnificent words.

Give John a double hug for me.

Bruce, Father of Threadkiller and Awesomeness

It’s gonna be GILD

And don’t forget their middle names  and

A smiley for a middle name would be AWESOME

Old threads around here never die. They just go dormant until someone digs around in the archives and resurrects it just for kicks. I predict this particular thread will get resurrected several times over.

Threadkiller  Edwards

and

Awesomeness  Edwards

They do have a ring to them, don’t they.

I doubt that this particular thread will ever die because everyone will try to have the last word and win the title of Most Grand Poobah of Threadkilling.

…except Gilby doesn’t count because he is already the Poobahest of us all.

‘US’ …?

Not for you. Not for here …

Have you ever moderated a forum …?

The online gamer forum I moderated was full of ‘haters’ and ‘generally’ messed up kids.
One gets good at ‘nailing’, (or new phrase ‘owning’), a topic shut without having to ban members.

This topic could drift easily into poster vs moderators.

My reply was meant to add content to the thread.
(unlike yours, which was meant to NEFF )

No, I haven’t.

For some reason I feel like hugging Al Gore right now. Weird.
