There's the other wheel

http://lutkus.com/whatever/wheels.jpg

Yup, I’ve got two wheels now. All I can say is, wow! Those 2 wheelers are
tough. Of course, I only spent about 10 minutes trying to ride. I still
haven’t gotten my brain to understand that I have to pedal in the opposite
direction I want to go.

I made it by taking a schwinn, and adding on to the frame. It was actually
quite easy, and not exepnsive, but that thing is heavy!

Well, who knows when I’ll find the time to learn to ride that thing, but
some day I surely will. Perhaps after I’m done studying for finals, and
having 6 hour show rehersals I’ll get to it.

It’s an original schwinn seat frame (same as semcycle deluxe), with holes
drilled in it for the miyata bumpers, and a gremcrest cover and 16"
innertube.

Jeff,

I haven’t seen the question that you are responding to, other than
your quoting it. Was it e-mailed to you or what? I’m afraid of
developing r.s.u. withdrawal symptoms if I can’t be sure I see
everything. Yes doctor I’m addicted.

i dont see the question being asked either…

latly though, envelopes on the treads page that have new responses in them do somtimes not appear open.

they are still closed even though there is new responses in there

Here’s my original message (I sent it directly to Jeff because I… well read the message it explains.

begin original message------------------------------------
Jeff,

I wanted to post back to the group but I don’t have access to a nntp server
that allows posting and I’m too lazy to go to Gilby’s site and reply. I
hope you don’t mind the email.

That looks great. I think I’ll make one too. I’m thinking I might put a 8"
wheel in between the two main wheels to reverse the drive back to
forward/forward. Since I’m using 24" wheels that would be 24" + 24" + 8" +
16" = 6’. The final 16" is what I’m estimating for the top of the frame and
seat. That seems about high enough to be fun and rideable without being too
high for me.

I’m wondering about your seat. It looks like a Miyata air-seat conversion.
If it is how are you attaching it to the seat post? If it’s not what is it?

end orignal----------------------------------------------------

Sorry if this is “freaking” anyone out. Just relax. Maybe someday I’ll actually have an ISP that provides a reliable NNTP feed and aviod all the hassles (are you listening MSN?)

I missed it, too, if it’s any condolence, Klaas

many nntp servers dont require authentication, you could just try getting your newsreader to use another isp’s news server

i’m using news.btopenworld.com (on port 119)and i don’t need to use authentication, i don’t think i’ve seen a newsserver for a few years that actually needed a username and password well not since the internet was verry new and cost 5p a minute

But most ISP’s newsservers are firewalled, so you won’t be able to access
them from anyone else’s dialup.

One that doesn’t (although I think you’ve got to email them to register
first, but it’s free) is news.cis.cfn.de or somesuch. It’s an academic one
in Germany, but it’s open to the public.

Further to ewancycle’s response to the above: if you go to
http://freenews.maxbaud.net/ and type “rec.sport.unicycling” in the
search box at the bottom, you can choose from a multitude of NNTP
servers that carry our unsurpassed newsgroup. It’s handy if you pick
one on which you can post as well as read.

My ISP has a reliable NNTP server but doesn’t carry all groups (no
server does). If I need access to an exotic group I use this news
server search engine as well, rather than going through the hassle of
checking whether my ISP is amenable to a request to take that
particular group up.
