The worlds best unicycle seat

I am trying to get some info from this thread…Where can you get this flatter seat and how much does it cost?

From the guy just above your post.

In anticipation of my base arriving soon, I cut down a spare FFR foam as per Ken L’s suggestion. Was surprisingly easy to cut, using a large serrated knife. Now I will have to either cut down a FFR cover and have it re-sewn or just order a KH street cover which should fit without any mods. The kh “Slim” was my first choice but UDC (US) doesn’t seem to carry it. The street should be close in size to the slim.

Man, that foam looks gross! Sometimes I’m glad I don’t live in sweaty SoCal.

Haha, it’s be covered so it won’t show! It’s from a mod I did a few years ago where I used mesh to replace the vinyl top. This was before Kris came out with his mesh top. The discoloration is from the spray adhesive I had used to glue the material to the top of the foam and make the middle of the mesh top stay down in the channel. You can see in the previous pic that I had also enlarged the channel a bit. I ended up using velcro.

EEew, buttsweat

Sure Terry, it’s the glue, there’s no way could that be from butt sweat

I went back to the old style vinyl KH seat cover because the mesh covers made my seat pads gross. I’m glad Kris is going back to vinyl.

I’m waiting for our VISA to close for the month before I order my base(s).

Butt, Sweat & Tears! :stuck_out_tongue:

Here’s a strange looking uni (probably very low end, considering the cottered cranks and other cheap looking components) that also has what appears to be a pretty flat and thin saddle.

A school of Flatfish

Which one is mine ?

The one on the far left

Im having a good day for unicycle parts

just got my unicycle saddle base
thanks Pete!

Im trying one out, may end up ordering more and Im planning on trying it on my muni (G26) and my road uni too (G36)

so im somewhat reluctant to go canabalising either functioning saddle that I have.
My plan is to buy a new saddle and use the parts from this.

what / which saddle do people suggest using.
I have an older KH FFR with stretch top - of which Im not a huge fan
I have a newer KH FFR with a vinyl top which I like more.

but the stand alone saddles on sale at UDC all seem to be the stretch covers. what are the street, flat or slim like are they suitable for parts for this base?
is the imapct Naomi a good option?
or any other suggestions

thanks all

I have had them all now including a kh slim in even with the standard base love the Naomi as it is thin so the padding doesn’t bulge at the sides when you sit on it so you get less chafing. Also the padding on the sides is thinner making a narrower saddle by about 10mm. They have a nice vinyl cover to.

Shame they are more expensive especially as they have the older bases.

I have a Naomi on my trials
but ive not dismantled any of these saddles.

my Naomi has nuts visable from underside whilst my 2 free rides have socket cap bolts
Is this what you mean by the older base?

does this mean the hardware from a Naomi would not be suitable for the ‘flat fish’?

If I wanted to used the foam and cover from a naomi what else would I need?

10x M6 T-nuts
8mm drill bit
4x M6 x 16mm
6x M6 X 12mm

I have converted one of my Naomi seats to a normal CF base I used 10 x m6 t nuts and 10 x 16mm(ish) button head bolts. I had to trim the t nuts down ad they were longer than the thickness of the CF base ( passing a bolt through from the top to open the threads back up). Initially glued the t nuts but still had one spin so I drilled 2 small 2mm holes for the gripper spikes that you normally squash flat on the t nut to sit in and all was well.

It is a bit of a faf but worth it.

Hi Peter, I am going to drill a base today so will take some photos and show you some methods I have worked out.

Get a drill bit that is 0.1mm smaller than the insert so it is an interference fit, I will show you in the photos how to get them in.

Cheers.

Hi Pete (or anybody who knows),

Are the interface, between seat-base and seat-post, of the KH-seat with the mesh top and the older KH-seat with the vinyl top (not the last one) the same?
Is the curvature of both bases the same?
I ask because I’m interested in CF bases for both seats (one for a T7 handle and one for a current seat post), but I remember not being able to properly install the seat with the mesh top on a T7 handle, and not having any problems with the older model with the vinyl top.
In one of your photos it seems you are using one of your hand made bases with a T7 handle?

Do you know the shipping cost to Spain (1 or 2 muni CF bases)?

Happy 2013 to everybody!
 Luis

It’s $14.51NZD for 1 CF base delivered to France (9.24 Euros) so probably same for you in Spain

Does anyone else find this photo a little strange? They all look curved- funny little optical illusion
