if your rim bottomed out on that, which it looked like it did, more air. Also, you could rotate the tire. the try all is a taller tire. it doesn’t necessarily fold more or less, but it has a different feel when you jump and may stay on better…
A creepy crawler is the worst tire for tire folding. Getting a Try-All would certainly help, but it also has something to do with your technique.
I had a tryall and it never did that. I’d say either your tyre is duff or your rim is bad. Does it come off randomly or always near the same spot on the rim? because if so try rotating your cranks.
yea that tires done. my last ride on it, i was just warming up, riding around…and the bead just popped off.
i got an onza sticky fingers, haven’t put it on yet though.
hey, dschmitt, when you ride on the onza for a while can you post a review. I’d like to here your opinion on it
second that
it sux.
only good for riding skinnies, and it’s only as good as the cc at skinnies. to me, its bounce is total shit. feels way too firm. cc is 100x more bouncy.
i also struggled for 20 mins(and shed a few gallons of sweat) getting the tire on, it’s incredibly hard to get on. broke a couple tire levers doing it. cc is always a 1-2 min job, with not a bead of sweat broke…
-1 for sticky fingers…
i’ll stick with cc until a tryall becomes available without spending 100$ on shipping or something…
hmm, not sure if I’ll try it then, I might just stick to the Luna. I tried my Luna again yesterday and only the little bit of riding I did in the street I liked it better than my Friends CC, I’ll try it for Trials today, then once my Monty 2.7 worns out I’m back to the Luna… My favorite tire so far!
The sticky fingers is for shit… only okay for flat IMO.
word
And street.
I’ve been using the Sticky Fingers for street riding and some light trials and flat for almost a year now. Here is my review, on the same structure as Sponge. I feel it will be lacking of many important informations, due to my bad trials technique, but anyway… you could always refer to DSchmitt’s and Sponge’s.
Grip : I found it surprising. I always gap seat in and I’ve never slipped, even under wet weather. I’ve also ridden round wet rails with it without any problem (mostly with you Jakob). However, I can easily tell the difference between this tire and a CC or a Try-all for grip. It’s one of the main reason why I love it, it doesn’t feel sluggish when turning and twisting.
Tread pattern : Nothing to add about this, similar tread pattern to Luna (tight blocks).
Bounce : I can’t tell about this. I am a very poor seat out rider, I thus rarely use pre-hops.
Pinch resistance : Way better than CC, never had a problem with it.
Compound : Like Sponge said, hard compound making it long lasting. Wears a tiny bit faster than the Luna, which is pretty good. After a year, there are still many untouched spots on the tire.
Overall : Good for light trials, very good for street riding. Nice alternative to Luna if it is not available in your country.

Can someone please post a review on the Nimbus Blizzard tyre???
I just read all the first post to help me decide what tire I will get next, my Old School Monty is wearing really really fast, I’ve been riding it for 4 months maybe and it’s almost slick already. And, I though that maybe I could change or add some things to the Old School Monty…
Monty Elite/Atlas/Salmon wall/Yellow wall/White wall
The original style of Monty tyre, has been around for years and years but discontinued a few years ago. Great bounce, shit grip.
Grip- ergh, not very good at all. It is shocking how badly it grips in the wet. Shall we just say that back about a year ago, me on a Creepy Crawler was beating Joe on an old school Monty at some wet natural because he was slipping so much. In the dry, it’s fine.
Compound- very funny compound that is SUPER soft, but not grippy… almost like foam?! Mmm…
Wear-rate- Pretty decent, lasts a fair amount of time with most people, but not as good in this case as the Try-All. Similar to Eagle Claw in this case from my experience and many others’. I say it wears off really really fast, normaly my tires last me a year or so and this one is already almost slick in 4 months.
Pinch resistance- read Monty Eagle Claw, very similar in this case. The Luna is way better for pinch resistance, I’ve had 5 flats this season, I’ve had one with my Luna in a whole year.
Bounce- EXTREMELY stiff rebound properties due to the extra extra stiff sidewalls, this was the key feature of the tyre. I loved this tyre for bounce, and hundreds of bike riders would agree. But again, bounce is very much personal preference.
Sidewalls- SUPER thick, and give a hard rebound, shame that threads start appearing over them making it look old extremely quickly. No threads on mine yet, not even a sign of thread appearing.
Overall: Very good if you plan on riding in the dry and on urban. Not so good for wet at all. However… vintage. Also… damn easy to get on and off rims!
I added a few things(what’s written in…) . I might go for MEC if I can find where to buy one or either go back to my favorite yet… Luna:)
Got this tire now: 20 x 2.6 Inch (65-387) Monty Trials Tire.
I love it :). It takes some time to get used to though.
wow, you know your tires…
No trials tyres are anywhere near perfect. Yet. Which is a shame.
Even the new Try-All Stiky Lite. But it’s currently the best. If gaining a couple of inches in sidehops over a Monty EC tyre for some biketrials riders is good enough, I’d say it’s definitely good enough for unis.
But… in the 26" trials market, they have the Stiky Lite too but it’s actually ‘better’ than its 19" counterpart that we would use. The 26" version has kevlar for starters…
Not only that, the Stiky Lite 26" is NOT the choice tyre. If you’ve ever heard of the Continental tyres, they are leaps and bounds ahead of Try-All and Maxxis. The compound Continental uses for some of their 26" tyres is waaay grippier than Try-All or Maxxis which use 42a for their Stiky Lites/CCs… and the Contis last about as long if not longer. The main thing that people love about Continental Rain King and Der Kaiser tyres is that they are excellent for natural riding. Off-camber surfaces are very sketchy on tyres like Maxxis CCs, and sometimes Try-Alls. Conti DKs and RKs give so much stability. (Der Kaiser and Rain King are Conti’s current DH tyres which are now the choice tyre for 26" trials… way overtaking Maxxis and Try-All)
Continental are a fairly open-minded company based in Germany, where their tyres are all handmade in-house by their team. They recently just released trials-specific tyres for 26" bikes. Who knows? They might just release some for 19" if there’s enough demand… If they do, I’m willing to bet it’s going to be the best 19" trials tyre available.
Nimbus Blizzard
Just got my new Nimbus Blizzard yesterday and just got done with my first real ride on it.
The only other trials tire I have ever ridden is the Creepy Crawler so that is all I can compare it to. It is mounted on a stock Nimbus Trials. Installation was fairly easy and done without tire levers.
My first impression is that white tires are awesome looking. The side walls are much thicker than the Creepy Crawler, giving me more of a controlled hop. (no folding over) One other notable characteristic is it has less rolling resistance than the CC and feels a little easier to turn. The tread pattern is very similar to the CC. The Blizzard is the same weight as the CC (according to UDC) and only costs $10 more. I would recommend the Blizzard even if you don’t need an indoor tire.
If there is enough interest I can post a few pics.
pics? yes please
I too have that tire and love it for trials, Altho putting it on my KH 09 rim was a stragle and I hade to use tire levers to get it on… I love it for its bounce and rolling, it’s so much smoother then the CC
