My hubby (Paul Selwood) insists that Swags is a common name for sausages. I beg to differ. Any one else here use that name for them?

Sausages here. But there are so many different types of sausage. Our usual is the pork-type sausage links, about two inches long each, either processed and pre-cooked or the real raw thing. We also like pork-type sausage patties but they rarely carry those at the discount store where we shop.
Swag has something to do with the living room curtains.
I believe Jaime Oliver (The Naked Chef) calls them snags, but I’ve never heard “swags” before. I thought that had something to do with curtains?

Swags is a christmas decoration made of evergreen branches, similar to a wreath. Swag is also a term used for goods received for free, such as door prizes and such. Never heard of the sausage use of the term.
actually, i thought “Schwag” was the term for prizes… and no i’ve never heard sausage called swags.

hehehehe i love it when people get Australianisms mixed up. Here in Oz sausages are called snags eg “chuck some prawns and some snags on the barby”. ‘Swag’, however, is also an iconic australian term. It refers to a bushmans tent and can be found in the lyrics of Australia’s unofficial anthem “waltzing matilda”. In the first verse it states “once a jolly swagman” (bushie who lives out of his swag)

I absolutely hate sausage, its quite nasty. But for some reason I like hot dogs and bacon. I just don’t like sausage.
That’s the only way I’ve heard it used.
I think they’re only swags if they’ve been stolen.
