Riding Leo’s uni with an airseat has convinced me that I simply must get a comfy seat. I would consider myself less of a man if I went through life without one. Literally.
But… where from? It was the sock thingy with a tube in and the roach cover… but while I’ve seen these at unicycle.com I can’t find them at unicycle.uk.com.
Am I not looking hard enough? Where does anyone else get things like this from? I’d rather not have to order stuff from the states but in this case, hell, I’d go and pick it up personally if that was the only way.
<fond memories of riding on an airseat and not feeling sore at all after several hours…>
Are you going to be at UNICON?
I’m planning on doing a workshop at UNICON on air seat designs. One of the reasons for wanting to do a workshop is that I want to get some ideas from other people on how they have done their air seats as well as show what I have done.
I borrowed my mom’s sewing machine and made my own air pillows for my seats. Stuff it with a little foam and top it off with a Roach cover.
True, I can get a Nimus II frame easily, and indeed have done. But that still leaves the roach cover, and preferably the air pillow simply because as I’ve not done anything like this before I’m willing to pay a bit extra to make sure it works properly.
But where from, I don’t know…
And possibly even a handle… a left handed one at that. Do they exist at all?
Phone Roger and ask him. If he doesn’t have it he’ll do his best to get it for you. You won’t find ‘active ankles’ on his site but he’s gone out of his way to get them for me, thanks Roger.
As for a handle I made mine from an old seat post and I wouldn’t be without it.
BTW Roger had a nice prototype leather cover on his uni, I wouldn’t mind one of those.
Reeder handles
air pillows
signs
cottered cranks
Various Sem components
unicycle seat extensions
odd size seat post
48 hole hubs
and… oh you know bits and pieces.
If they are not under the counter me and John have a swap of bits about once
a month and I can get you the extra bits like Gary’s Active Ankles.
Cheers
Roger

Oooo oo ooo oooo, marvellous… I shall be on the phone the first opportunity I get. I’m after an air pillow, a large seat cover and if possible a left handed handle, although I’m probably being a bit quixotic for that last bit…
Just as long as no-one else nicks them first. Grr!
