Stomach on Seat and Seat Out: A Review

So I perused the forums and found some advice on these two.

Hold the seat very tightly, very close, lock arms at 90 degrees with elbows pressed in.

My problem, which I found no solution for, is keeping the seat still under my stomach. When I can remove the enormous KH seat and lay down on it I can go a wobbly 25 feet or so before having to jump off.

Any thoughts?

Press more weight into the seat. Press your belly/chest into the seat and put arms out a bit, kind of like an airplane.

My 2/100th of a dollar.

You’ve got to raise the seatpost the highest it goes. But make sure its not too high or it’ll wobble around, about an inch in is good. That way, it stays right up close to your chest and you don’t have to lean over as much.

Yeah, i couldn’t ride with my stomach on the seat for a long time, despite being able to do all of the rest of the level 3 tricks easily and being well into level 4. The problem was that i had to lean over so far that my knees were almost hitting my shoulders when in the awkward position, and getting into that position was pretty tough while trying to keep my balance. After about a week of wondering why i sucked so bad, i realized that the unicycling levels are freestyle tricks and i’m a street rider. Thus, i ride with my seat much lower than freestylers. So, i raised my seat up about 2 inches and gave it a try. It was nothing after that. I could get into position, ride, and get back seated easily.

So, the moral of the story, raise your seat up high so that you don’t have to lean over so much in order to put the needed pressure on the seat. You probably just need to put more pressure than you are now. You should also try to balance the pressure you put on each pedal, like you do for seat-out riding. Don’t put all of your force on the pedal going down. Instead, just put slightly more force on that pedal than the one that is on its way up. This prevents the uni from tossing side to side while you ride.

Well my 661 4x4s came today. Went to test them out. 45 minutes later I could ride stomach on seat pretty consistently, seat out only slightly worse, hop thousands of times more accurately, wheel-walk shakily for a few pushes, and side mount about 50 percent of the time.

I couldn’t do any of that yesterday.

You sound alot like me, thats weird, my 661’s came in yesterday, I learned how to stomach ride yesterday, learned how to ride seat out for a couple revs today, and I learned how to side mount 100% of the time today but I can’t quite wheel walk yet.

stomach riding, however, looks incredibly stupid and attracts large amounts of laughter.
