Sold: Schlumpf G29 / wheel / hub

Update: Sold

It’s a fun beast but I have come to the conclusion that I prefer fixed drive unis. So it’s for sale.

It has been ridden for ~200km (according to Strava  ) and has been stored indoors since it was build. Hub has a 5 year warranty from date of purchase so there is 2.5 years left.

I prefer to sell it as a complete uni but I’m willing to sell just the wheel or just the hub with spares. Buyer pays for shipping.

Price / complete uni: 2100€

Wheel: 1950€

Hub: 1800€

Do I need a new Schlumpf hub? No. Would I like to replace an older hub with a newer one? Definitely. Am I ready to spend 1800€ in a hub? :see_no_evil_monkey:
If anyone wants the full uni, that would avoid me spending that much money. So, anyone, please, buy this uni for my bank account.

Yes, but I can’t buy this for My bank account.
So when it comes to me, you’re out of luck, @Maxence

Oh man, I would die to buy the hub on its own and build it into a duplicate of my current G29 wheel. I’d really like to have a spare one in case anything ever went wrong with my current G29.

Alas, I think the most cost effective option would be to modify an older model Schlumpf with a BrakeFast 2.0.

Somebody else buy this so my bank account can quit shaking with fear…

Like I said to Maxence, my bank account is shivering with fear that no one else will buy it… Out of luck, @mattlost1wheel and @Maxence… Hopefully I’m also not out of luck.

I may have an idea. If no-one wants the full uni but someone wants a less expensive Schlumpf hub, I may be ready to buy the hub and sell my #821 hub with its brand new BrakeFast 2.0 adapter and already ready-to-use rotor for 1,300€. More than 25% less than the #1280 hub, that’s a real bargain

How many miles does the #821 hub have? You have my curiosity…

That’s hard to tell. I have bought it second hand in 2019. It had the famous “freewheel” defect that a bunch of #800 hubs had at the time, so I sent it back to Florian for repair. That makes me think it has not been ridden a lot before I bought it.
Then, it has been ridden in a 36er and a 29er, for road and muni. 2 years ago, it went back to Florian because some internal mechanism failed - I had probably toyed too much with it in muni; it doesn’t really like it when you change gear while being in the airs and get back on the ground while the mechanism hasn’t fully engaged yet. So, it has been repaired a second time in 2023
I have stopped riding it early this year after getting a second hand brand new hub from Jakob. All in all, I’d say it has been ridden between 2,000 and 4,000 km.

Just to clarify, was the freewheel problem totally fixed after the 2nd repair?

Absolutely! Florian has replaced the mechanism so the hub works like new :ok_hand:
The reasons why I’d prefer a new hub are the following:

  1. I feel like rotorson BrakeFasts are hard to align with calipers. They tend to rub against the pads, which I don’t like.
  2. You usually have to file down your brake adapter and/or caliper to make space for the BrakeFast screws. I have broken a caliper by filing it too much
  3. I have broken too many BrakeFast screws to trust it completely. Although it is great for road riding, I feel like my practice is a bit too extreme for it…
  4. I would prefer consistency across all my hubs. I have already 2 Schlumpf hubs with inboard discs, and a 3rd one would be perfect for my incoming G32er.
