I’m pretty sure they’re empty on mine but I’d have to pull off the disc to find out for sure.
Shift gears. One side carries all the load in high gear - that’s where the small pin comes in to play. I wonder if that’s what you’re describing.

I’m aware of the pin on the bearing holder — I drilled a hole for it, and it’s securely in place. But in my case, this is what’s happening, and it clearly shouldn’t be rotating like that. I most likely lost the three small screws.
You’re definitely missing the 3 screws. I don’t know their specs though ![]()
You should drop an email to Florian. He may help you.
Welcome to the forum.
Is that a Flansberrium V-frame? ![]()
I mean: That is a Flansberrium V-frame!
Maybe I can remove the disc of my Schlumpf to check the screw dimensions tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. I should shim the disc anyway, so I can use it in different frames.
How much force should it take to shift the gears? I don’t know if I got a dud, or I’m just at the “it can’t be me, it’s the equipment” phase of learning, but it seems unreasonable high, especially the upshift. I measured 26 shifts up and down with a postal scale, and upshifting averaged 4.2 kg, and the downshifts averaged 3.6 kg. The maximum shift forces were 4.4 kg up and 4.1 down. Is that typical?
Edit: lol it was me, not the equipment. Ankle shifting ftw. For future Schlumpf strugglers, here’s what worked for me. I dropped my seat 1 cm, and adjusted each button so the bottom edge was flush with the crank surface. To make ankle shifting work with my low top 5.10 freeriders, I wore ankle guards ($10 from Amazon) secured firmly in place with duct tape.
Recently, I had the opportunity to borrow a G29 from a friend for a few weeks. My only experience with a geared unicycle was with a G26, which I borrowed several times during Unicon21, but I didn’t try the gear shifting then.
Before trying the G29 for the first time, I read discussions, including this thread, and watched videos, which made me feel a bit anxious, particularly about the gear shifting.
I just swapped my old ragged fiveten freeriders for a pair of the Leatt Flat 1.0 Hi shoes and the difference is night and day. I’m hitting my shifts on the first try 9 times out of ten, and they look way cooler than the freeriders. I wish they were a little stiffer, but that aside, I can’t recommend them enough
I wish we had a roller ring. It is great for learning to ride UW
