Yeah but most of us only ride on Earth…

Hey Kris, how about some group riding on Vancouver Island after the NUC? There
might be a few people who can take a day or two to go up there and get dirty. I
was planning some extra days to be a tourist in Seattle or Vancouver, and Roger
Davies will be in the area as well…

In Vancouver, most North Shore mountainbikers (and also me) wear the following
safety gear:

helmet, leg armour (combo knee and shin pads), cordura pants with foam pads in
the hip and tailbone areas, arm armour (combo forearm and elbow pads), helmet,
and I also wear gloves that contain rollerblading wrist-guards, and shin-pads
worn backwards to protect the back of my legs and my ankle bones.

It is also fairly common for people to wear full-face helmets, and (less
commonly) motorcross chest, shoulder and spine protectors.

Excellent. This is something I’d really like to persue, and hopefully invite
whoever can go. Some questions: How far is Vancouver from Seattle? Approx.
driving time? What’s in Vancouver city that’s cool for riding? Why not Island?
Too much further? Too remote? I was wanting to see some of the trails and toys I
saw in the North Shore Extreme video. Do you have room for guests at your house?

I don’t know how long I’ll have after NUC, but it would be great to at least
come up and ride on one of the days after the convention. Anyone else
interested? You’ve seen Kris ride, or read about him. No? Check out:

and experience some of the trails that made him what he is?

Vancouver is about 2.5 hours drive north of Seattle

The NSX video was filmed in Vancouver, not on Vancouver Island, and all the cool
technical trails are just North of Vancouver. Vancouver Island is beautiful too,
though, and has some fun cross-country riding.

Unfortunately since I’m not working for most of the summer I will be moving out
of my place and will probably camp at a rock climbing area north of Vancouver,
at Squamish. There’s great camping and riding here, though, and it’s about 45
min from the area filmed in the video. Also, my parents have a cabin at
Whistler. It may be rented out, but there is a decent chance we could stay
there. It’s a bit of a drive from the North Shore trails (2 hours), but there is
good cross-country riding around here, too, and it is spectacularly beautiful.
