Iv discovered I enjoy the solving of rubik’s cube style puzzles, in fact iv gotten my average solve of a 3x3x3 cube time down to under 50 seconds my personal best being 38 seconds.
I was wondering in anyone ells on here has the same passion or has pics of them or others destroying these puzzles.
Many of the people here speed solve cubes, including me.
Yeah, I can do 3x3x3s in about a minute and 5x5x5s in about 10 minutes.
w00t, i wouldn’t have guessed
Best time?
Method?
Average?
etc?
I used to solve a bunch but then I lost mine:(
Does anyone here have a 7x7?
Only Olympic cubes have been made in 6x6 and 7x7, but there was no mass production.
My average upped like 10 seconds recently, but this summer I was hitting 1:10 almost constantly. Personal best was about 53 seconds, Beating my Math teacher, that was my plan. I was using the vanilla layer-by-layer method but Ive recently have been trying to convert to Petrus, after Long fails of the Fridrich… My 2x2 best was sub 10… I was happy… 2x2 average, Dont even know, I sold my cube toa friend so he amde a 2x2x4 cube, thats a sick cube… Anyone else?
what are you ment to aim for? do you guys get one side done and then the others or something else?
Well, it depends on the the method your using, I like a personal alerted layer method, which is solving one layer of the cube at a time, from top to bottom, starting by getting all the same color on one side and then working my way down the cube till I’m at the bottom, most people learn it this way
The friedrich method involves solving the first 2 layers or 2/3rds of the cube at a time, then the last remaining layer is solved by its self, making it a faster solve.
i hoped that helped
I Wish, you can buy them off www.thinkgeek.com now tho for like $60.
Petrus is more of a brain thing. Fridrich is easyer. but I just cant…
Petrus, Is also called the corner method, tried it once, I couldn’t do it
Its called the Petrus, because its Lars Petrus that created it. lol
I use this method, once memorized, it really is fastest. At least for me, anyway.
Another thing I also use regularly is the SEARCH feature at the top of every page on this site, in between to “New Posts” and “Quick Links”. It helps people like UniGoth prevent themselves from looking like an inconsiderate jerk, well… sometimes. You’ll notice we’ve had many cube discussions over the years, and unless the 3x3x3 got any harder to solve, this thread holds no merit.
I can do it in three minutes, but I’m gonna look at these methods.
Hah, I forgot about James Potters thread a while back…
EDIT: Hungry4uni, try solving it in about 1:30 ish range before trying petrus or Fridrich, Just my opinion.
