Help: Riding backwards (this one has a lot of replies)

I found these by going to search, advanced search, ‘riding backwards’ and search titles only.

You already know the best tip, even if you don’t want to hear it. It’s true is the problem.

The most common tip given is to pick spot about 20 ft in front of you and keep your eyes on that spot as you pedal backwards. As you ride away from that spot, pick a new spot.

You don’t say how far you are riding but if it’s still at one rev or two of the wheel, you might try usisng a shopping cart to get used to the feel of riding backwards and pedaling steadily, etc.

Of course You Tube is your friend:

This is just the first one that came up on search of yourtube.

Here is one more with a lot of replies:

if you can idle, just do extended idles(one revolution back, then forward). then keep adding more revolutions as you progress. i dont recommend learning woth a wall, it is best do start with an idle

Unfortunately practice is what it takes… Took me months, and I spend a lot of time in the saddle!

Definitely listen to reed’s advice. It’s the best way to learn, even if it takes longer.
