Rider without a steed

I got the following message following the article in the Seattle Times. We did
let him know that he would have to be a registered non competitor to be in the
parade, if anyone can help him out with a unicycle please contact him:

>From: DavidGriffin@bigfoot.com (David Griffin (bigfoot))

Hello

I am a Brit who is living in Seattle for a couple of years.
My Unicycle is at home in the UK.

I’m not nearly talented enough to wish to enter any competitive event but
(having just heard about the upcoming events at the end of the month) I
would very much like to try and borrow a steed and take part in the big mass
ride downtown on 27th.

Have you any ideas where I can rent a unicycle and how I can tie up with the
folks organising the ride ?

Many thanks

I realise that after the newspaper feature you must be dealing with a lot of
emails, and I apologise for contributing to that overload !<

Thanks
Barb K.

I’m sure there are some much better organized people out there who can help this guy out with a Uni. But if it comes down to it, I’ll be looking to buy a new frame and make some repairs to my 24" during UNICON. If somebody with some experience wrenching on Unis could help me out on Friday, I’d be more than happy to let this guy ride it in the seafair parade.

Not that I won’t be able to get this done without help…Its just that working by myself, I doubt it will be done by the parade.

He can use one of mine. I can’t ride all seven of them at once.

Greg, I’m surprised. From the man who posed while juggling 13 live cats and balancing a piano on his nose, riding 7 unicycles at once should be cake walk.

Two weeks and counting!
Bruce

Careful Harper, you might find yourself overwhelmed by demanding unicyclists
insisting “you promised me!”.

Re: Re: Rider without a steed

I’m only concerned about the ones who respond. I take it you’re bringing your Coker with you?

I hope David has long legs, otherwise he’ll have to take a hacksaw to your seatposts.

Before everyone starts volunteering unicycles for David we should find out how tall he is.

Re: Rider without a steed

I haven’t yet figured out for sure if I’m going to bring the Coker.
Southwest airlines insists on calling it a bicycle and they say that they’ll
charge me $40 (each way) for it.

I think I’ll probably leave it home and just bring a standard 24" which I
can more easily put in standard luggage. This also makes it much less
stressfull for my wife (who’ll be watching the three kids anytime I go off
riding).

To further complicate things, I’ve been laid-off from my job. So now I have
plenty of time to attend the "full " event but I’ve already booked the
flight and hotel. Now it looks like I may start a new job soon (fingers
crossed) and may not be able to get time off at all.

Too bad I can’t just make a living by riding all day.
