Rethinking Marxism Conference

The 6th International Conference Rethinking Marxism is this month at Umass. If anyone else is interested, I’m trying to figure out a way there from Virgina. I’ll probably use some personal days and take off Thursday and Friday, rounding the trip back home Saturday.

What do you get when you put four Trotskyist in a room?

Five different political factions.

I’m going to have to pass but would love a report after you return.

Q: Why do so many Stalinists have eating disorders?

A: They love to purge.

I might just have to pass along the word from some friends at Amherst; as it turns out, I’ve got to be in Baltimore the same weekend for a conference on federal data reporting.** I’m hoping C-Span will pick it up or maybe the University Channel.

**Data management really isn’t as glamourous as television portrays it to be.

That’s great! They just hired and trainied 400 more for Homeland Security, just to spend the next 10 years following around these Marxists participants.

The conference was stopped by a bunch of protesting Liberal students, who said Marxism was too progressive.

It dosen’t start for another week-- are you sure? Billy you nefarious Trotskyite.

If I’m a Trotskyite, you’re a Reaganomics economist.

I find whenever I come across Marx it’s pretty much black and white.

Groucho was subversive.

The 7:30-9:30 session on Thursday looks interesting in light of the lingering belief in these fora that the press is right biased.
