I grew up riding a Schwinn with smooth rubber peddles. I usually wore shoes but rode barefoot often.
I can’t stand the nubs on the stock Nimbus mountain Uni. I mount the Uni and my left is foot is too crooked every time. Correcting it takes up to a few rotations of the tire. Not to mention it takes longer to get a decent right foot plant as well.
Has anyone removed the nubs from their stock peddles?
I don’t know if the design would make for too slippery of a surface as their isn’t much there.
The Schwinn’s had 2 rubber runners around 3/4” running the length of the peddle. I don’t recall ever having a problem with my feet coming off them. I’m not one to ride in bad weather or up steep hills, I’m 65 and mild grades uphill are no fun. I live in Vermont and have an E-bike designed for Vermont. I’m strictly a flat-lander on the Uni that is aware of his age. I won’t be leaping from porches or boulders. I broke my pinky finger 2 years ago when a Uni mount went horribly wrong as I tried to protect myself hitting the ground. I question the sanity of riding at all but I like it.
I just need what I deem normal peddles which seem to be a bit of a unicorn these days.
